When you use or own samples (cool edit/adobe adution/soundforge as the editor, and use FL as the sequencer for these samples, whats the big deal? It is pattern based beat making, working in terms of constructing seperate sequences and then putting these sequences together to form a song. hmm, not too different from many hardware samplers.

Amen

when i used fl, i used all of my own samples. Whenever i did use something stock, i eqed the S*#t outta it. Its all about makin the best w/ what u got.

i used fruity for yearrssssss.
ofcourse u can come out wiv sum nice shit. but the overall quality is crappy compared to say the mpc4k.

people just just blaze or whoeva else hav the right conections 2 b able 2 drop beats like dat. if your coming from nuthing, u wont get no respect wiv fruity. truss.

P.s. fruity is a toy. if u want 2 use software, use logic or sumthing.

JaeOne, that's what I was getting at, they act like he used a tin can, like he's at some disadvantage and that's why h's so good. HYPE HYPE HYPE.

How is fruity a toy? How is the overall quality crappy? Have you seen the test done with FL in terms of aliasing? it does very well, considering you have a studio quality soundcard/interface intended for music production. How is it a toy? Its a sequencer. Sample sounds, sequence the sounds. I dont **** with preset sounds anyway, and of course those are weaksauce., Dig and sample and chop and sequence, just like everyone on an mpc.

I think I should do a FL tutorial page, so people can get past the grid, start using it with controllers/piano roll/no snap setting and watch how powerful and flexible it is.

Here are some tracks I have done with FLstudio:

Make sure to check out "Somethin' Jazzy".

LOL i never even mentioned I was using FL until now.
Oh yea, about your comment on logic, I choose to sequence samples within FL, using soundforge or cep as my editor. I also use Nuendo to multitrack record and also for sequencing every now and then. I still love FL. I've used it successfuly to control external hardware samplers, and now that I've done it its time for a sp-12 to be added to the mix.
**** it, dont limit yourself to hard or software, use it all.

Come on, its really hard for me to believe that all 9th wonder uses is Fruity loops. Plus he made it seem like the equipment he had back in the day s*cked.............an ASR10 dude that sh*t is still rocking now.

It must be nice to have crazy money and then get on MTV and bullsh*t about how you can make crazy beats with a rock and thumbtack sort of like a Mcquiver of producers.

yo fruity loops is a studio in a box. its a sequncer, sampler, mixer, effects unit, and a sound generator. What else do you need? That and cooledit pro u can do any production work. U have the production station and the editor to sample with and edit. U cats act like its crazy ghetto to use that shit when its just the same as using an mpc with rack sampler and a synth and a mixer and a effects unit.

Why? What dont you people understand? The format is nothing different from your average beat digger armed with wax and an mpc: find some fat stacks of wax, dig thru em, find samples/drums, chop samples/drums, make sequences out of these samples and drums with the mpc, put em in song mode, fire, all in the mpc.

same shit with FL and a good editor (forge, or cep): find fat stacks of wax, dig thru em, find samples/drums, chop these samples/drums(cool edit), make sequences out of these samples and drums (FL), put em in song mode(FL), fire again.

same formula, especially with a midi controller and seeing that FL has loop recording/overdub, etc.

Dont discount all the vst synths around etc. If you peep my soundclick page, the bass line on a couple tracks like somethin jazzy and march madness are nothing more then simple sine wavs that you can create or find, and simple detune em and add loop points on em. Hell, I learned that on an MPC page, but since FL recognizes loop points just like a 2000xl, its all gravy.

and to others thinkin' FL sounds cheesy? Haha, stop usin cheesy ass preset sounds. Its no different then cheesy beats that come out of mpc's when the owner uses nothin but weak ass generic sounds.

I'm sayin, get past that grid sequencer, clickin in shit with a mouse, and try FL with a midi controller, enter shit in live, and keep the snap/quantization setting off (perfect if u want infinite resolution and later slide shit wherever you want).

Cop a nice audio interface. Im using a nice edirola FA-101 10in/10out firewire external interface. Basically no latency, superb sound, therefore, FL sounds great and not like that generic motherboard soundcard people always use when they make comments on FL, and then blame the program for its thin sound. lolololol

And dont discount FL as a sequencer for external gear. Its only drawback is the lack of Sysex support so it wont remember small paramaters and shit but with the MIDI OUT tool that is standard in FL you can control just about any external gear that supports midi; hardware samplers, hardware synths, etc, anything.

Peace to Binger0, he's knowin. It's a sequencer, it sequences the SOUNDS YOU CHOOSE TO USE IN IT, AND IT SEQUENCES SOUNDS THE WAY YOU CHOOSE TO SEQUENCE EM.

Damn I need to make a FL video, side by side with my boy on his sp1200, and show just how similar the process is.

Peep some of my FL beats in the meantime, some are old and wack but you get the point.

its just casue cats can get it for free they think its trival. They dont understand that its a full production workstation and with your own sounds its EXACTLY the same as using an mpc, triton, mv8000, sp303, motiff, etc... Just its software, there hardware. I love fruity loops, but lately i been rocking with reason and my mpc. Best of both worlds.

its all about skills... if ur shiit sounds hot then i dont care if you used the mtv generator on ur ps1, fl or an mpc for that matter... but there is alot of cats who hop on the trend, have no skills and think their ish is hot cause their friends tell em it is cause they wanna be nice to them...

dont get me wrong, iam not 1 of those 2 b hating on fruity. iam just tellin it like it is. iam sure yor beats r great (link dont work) but if u was to do dat same beat on the mpc4k, it would come out nicer in quality. thats from experience. me my self, ive got alot of beats that do not sound like fruity at all. iam able to make my sh1t sound completey complex and rich in production using fruity. but like i said the overall outcome of the sound is sh1t.

fix the link bruvz, let me hear wat u got.
