flashing lights, mp's, s950's through big boards do it for me.

FL will only sound as good as the samples you dig for and put in it (**** presets), in addition to only sounding as well as your soundcard/interface allows it too. I hope you had a decent card (not soundblaster, not motherboard based) when you made such an observation. I use the edirol FA-101 10in/10out firewire interface and FL sounds great, along with nuendo, etc etc.

respect? why would you get any more respect than i do? because your computer (mpc, it is a computer) is its own case? we both dig for wax, we both chop samples, we both trigger samples with pads (and keys), we both sequence. i use my pc just like any hardware, sample, trigger and sequence **** by playing it (not clicking mouse buttons). i fail to understand how you would get respect for using one platform over the other, considering one is not doing something so much easier for you. those that would give you more respect for such a reason are just ignorant narrow minded folks who judge things for face value.

the comment about the 950, mp's, sp's, etc: word, but so many people dont remember, FL and other programs sync up with hardware just fine. I've used my pc to control outboard hardware equipment countless times without a hitch.

Yeah, but it's like a tradition thing, like Dj's that still use vinyl and scratch, versus cd dj's that just beat match. I think cd scratching is cool, but you get less props cuz your needle can't skip no matter how hard you hit it.

So it's a bit easier. A lot of software makes it so you don't have to know much to do anything, which is cool, but it's knowledge and skill that gets respect. But who's respect? and who cares?

maybe someone may use features that may make things easier, but like i said before, no different process from hardware: dig, sample, chop, sequence. my pc doesnt work any magic for me. i play shit out with pads and keys like anyone. dont use any preset functions, etc...

and the analogy to skratching, ehh. you speak on tradition, if it was really about tradition you'd be rockin a zildjan drum set instead of mpc pads

But yo, I'm not hostile to computer users, I use a computer too, but as a tape recorder mostly. There's a lot to be said about computers, but there are other drawbacks. Like that they aren't built to last, they use cheap capacitors that will fail in roughtly 5 years so you need a new Mobo, and the working in 2D thing, like I said for some that's great.

Why are you so bitter? if you got dope beats cats don't care what you use, I got friends that rock all computer and they are all wrapped up in the whole 'the future will be all software' myth, and try to feel superior to others, and I don't support the opposite from hardware users towards computers. but there are advantages and disadvantages, I don't think one can really comment until they've used both as their main gear, most software users change apps every few years, sometimes they don't want to but the new computers OS's won't support their favorite gear.

tht maybe true jaeone, but what the hell does tht have to do with my comment, i like physical, i dont give a sh1t about syncing, i am not fighting down software, i am stating my opinions and feelings on it, dont try and sell me into something i have done already and come to a conclusive report on. and you can sync mp to cubase and use it as a module, and so what, i still went out and copped a 2500, for the price of that i could have a complete array of sounds that are more pleasing, and can edit and control more in the computer, , i do my thing, and that is with a garden fork,

i went to the largest music retailer in england to demo some gear, and i told cats my set up, "yea i rock a 950, and a mp, etc etc,

they were like huh?????????????. dont you use a computer, yea as a tape deck. from then on they told thier friends and thier frineds told thier friends until about half the store came up to me asking why?/ i simply told them i am a cave man. i felt good because i was different very different, and i will strive to be that way, some dude even gave me his number and invited me down to his studio. cause he is working on some music cross over stuff.

ask your selves the question why are companies so pushing the software evolution in music. to make more money???? at present theey are working on a human interafe protocol tht allows you to control applicatins from the brain directly, from your thoughts. so then, you same cats would be like yea i rock a brain wave generator, and you rock a control surface, your so out dated.

once again let me illerate why i like hardware,

the very same thing, my mp may not be old, but i get joy every time i hit a pad, and chop a sample, and i get props too, but that is broughta, and in some way it makes me feel good, i get to appreciate what i have more. and i am in no way saying that is what it takes for me to enjoy my gear.

nuff'spect ska.... this post has brought tearz to my eyes// (shroomzs included) nice way of puttin it, straight up...

You gotta love hardware... It gives you a connection to your gear. I make sure each piece of my studio is working at the best levels, and sometimes a piece here or there might start acting up, but thats the beauty of hardware. A computer maybe "All-in-one" and it might take 8 or 9 pieces of equipment to equal all of the virtual synths and plugins but I love the physical aspect... Not having the 808 sounds but the REAL 808 drum machine, Thats Hiphop!!! IMO

thats true what he said about gear, i knew a cat the had like a 20,000 studio set up and his music sounded like garbage, and i know a cat that made beats on a casio and they sounded awesome.

I know cats with lots of stuff that make incredible music, and other cats with casio's and they make that shyt sound worse.
