As for people saying **** like, "it's 2005, not 1985". Then you probably feel that R&B today is just as fresh today as it was in 1971? Why dig for wax? All those old groups use outdated gear.. (20x better in quality and sound in fact, but if it's not new, it's not dope and played out right?)

Facts are facts though, thiers a reason the late 80's and early 90's are always gonna be considered as the golden era of Hip-Hop. Just like the late 60's will be considered the golden era of rock. If you don't want to accept that, thats you.[/quote]

face it homey - the only reason you and 90% of the music industry abandons the classic gear is because your all fukkin lazy......you motherfukz don't put in 10% of the time I put into my shit and anybody that knows my material can vouch for me.....it's so typical for you all to be modern and down with the hip to be square crowd....which isn't unusual to anybody who appreciates and respects music as an artform. Man all I have to say is those of you that have no acknowledgement of classic machines like the 60 and sp1200 can eat a fat horse cock! I'll bring that shit to anybody that wants it and we can debate and impose ideals on each other all day but it won't make a damn difference if you got some shit to say about my music and my equipment then bring it full force and I guarantee i'll have your head in stitches trying to figure out what the hell you just experienced musically.....cus I don't play that bullshit and I will defend my mpc-60 and sp1200 and S950 and EMAX and all that other ill shit to the DEATH!

Bring it......fools!

Lazy???? Dog I've been doing music for just as long as you of not longer, and I play REAL drums NOT a Drum Machine CLOWN!!! So who's really the lazy one??? (I love when people don't know you, but talk sh!t like they do) I also PLAY keyboard, do you??? I also sample... I also produce, not just make beats (there IS a difference). You like older equipment, cool no one said you couldn't, I think some of the older stuff doesn't fit in what "I'm" trying to do musically (which is MY opinion). You have my head in stitches, son I heard your sh!t, it's cool but don't get it fu@ked up either...

My response was to that comment Boogie. It ain't about purist mentality, or about me thinking one sampler is better then another. I was simply pointing out why this new drum machine would never sound like an SP rather Drumat!c used one or not.

all good man...but for people to knock what other people choose to use as thier tools is quite childish....It's like saying I can't ball as good as you because I'm rocking Pro Wings and you have Nikes...The shoes and the gear don't make the baller or the artist....It's the person in the shoes and the person behind the machine....Thats my point...drumatic is on some jomo purist schit for real...Not everyone likes that dirty sound...To some people it sounds like schit...I however happen to like both sounds....clean and dirty...as long as the beat knocks, thats all that matters, I could give a shcit less if so and so used a Playstation2 to make beats...The most important thing is the end result....

RnB is just as good today was it was back then....You just have to look for it like everything else these days...Maxwell, Kemistry, Alicia Keys, Craig David, Dave Hollister, Kelly Price, Mary J. Blige, Boyz II Men, Jodeci, etc etc....If you can't see that then I don't know what to tell you.....

i've been borrowing an sp-12 turbo since friday morning. i made a beat within 90 minutes of **** with it. lol. the beat was wack as **** but it was a beat. shit is super easy to use. and if you take a look at my posts, you'll clearly see that i am the noobiest of the noobs.

if i can make a beat on it within an hour and a half, anyone can.

Boogie: I hope your knocking cats based off what gear they use comment isn't directed at me.. cause I never tossed no bullsh*t like that out at any point in time.

As for R&B today, verse back then.. you need to check your head G'. Your trying to tell me these Antares Auto-Tune vocalist are as dope as vocalist or even equal to artist of the 60's and 70's? You tell me one name today, someone current (not an older artist still tryin to do it ie. Isley) who is even touching some Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, or the Dramatics. Next..

It's all peace though brother, you got your views, I got mine.

I liked the demo on this thing, seems like a pretty cool box. I don't think very many people will buy it so it probably won't build much of a legacy but it does have a nice sound. I think they should have put more than 2MB in it. If it had 8-64 it might have a nice following from the lo-fi heads just on the sample time alone. I'm sure eventually there will be new machines and soundcards with 8 and 12bits as an extra feature but I think pure 12bit analog is a thing of the past for manufacturers. Especially in big metal tank cases. Although this box does look like it's built well by a cool company.

docmartin120 wrote:Man SP's are ok but please man, I rarely use mines. Not because it's old but because it's a pain to use. It's NOT user friendly and neither was the MPC-60 I use to have. (in my opinion) The only piece of equipment that is still in my main setup is my ASR-10. (made way before it's time) Everything else I either use for pre-pre-production or it's a collectors item in my equipment room. No disrespect to any of my older equipment, because thats what I learned on, but it's 2005 not 1985, alot of things have changed, I'm not in grade school living with my parents and music is alot different (I do more than just hiphop). But there will always be a piece of equipment someone is closer to than any other piece but if someone's piece is NOT your favorite doesn't mean their piece is inferior to yours...

KCi and Jo Jo Hailey....theres two to begin with...incredible voices...

Mary J Blige....She is soooo damm good with her's that her rendition of "I'm going down" was just as good as the original if not better....
Mariah Carey...This doesn't even need to be explained....
Alicia Keys songwriting is just incredible...."A Womans Worth".... How old was she when she penned that???

The Thing That Kills me is So of these Many Kids who make up these elitist Rules are From Places, Were you Would have gotted Beer Cans Thrown at you If you came down There Bumpin Hip Hop made on these SAME Machines in the 80's.They Would've Told You to Shut off the Monkey Music. Even now in Northeast Philly you got Cops that are OPEN ARYAN NATION MEMBERS.

Not to Go off the Subject, and no disrepect Drumatic,
But in many Cases For the Producer without $1,000,000 to buy gear, alot of older Equipment Slows you down. Have do get on ebay and Fight with some Nerds for a hardrive for a piece of Gear that use 20yr old Technology to save, and that are way overpriced,or Hunt down the a operating system or a Spar Replacement Part. So for those of us who are willing to mix some Vintage Gear with new Equipment Shouldn't be Knocked!!
