Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

i bought a ide atapi internal zip drive for my mpc2000xl but i have no experience in fitting zip drives or opening up machinery. so i took it to a shop that deals with fixing musical equipment and machines and they said that only scsi drives work internally with mpc2kxl and not ide atapi ones and that they couldnt do it. is this true? im sure its not cause ive checked online. if anyone could help me by giving me any advice on how to fit the drive myself that would be excellent. cheeers

Thery're talking bull that's for sure. Quenstion: Why do you want to install a zip drive and not a cf reader, if you are going to replace your floppy drive anyway ?

The cardreader like you find em in the mpc1000 and the latest version of the 2kxl.

You should ask the guy if your MPC's internal Floppy is IDE or SCSI ? If he says it is SCSI... take your MPC the F**k out of there!

It's obviously IDE, and the dude is talking rubbish.

Installing a Zip drive is just like installing a drive in a PC (if you've ever done that)

The hardest part I would say is cutting the floppy power cable and joing it to a Zip Drive power cable but it is straight foward.

There are so many resources on this site on how to install a zip drive, mind you why don't you just jump Zip Drives and go straight for a Card Reader ?

Also may I also warn you about OS 1.20 compatibiliy issues with some Zip Drives.

Good Luck

what do you mean about this? is this why the atapi ide doesnt work because of the operating system? they tried to connect it using all the methods but the mpc would not detect it. i
