50 cent pulls very little respect among the hip-hop set, and LOTS from the "rap" set, as you said, you live and breathe RAP, and therein lies the disagreement, rap is not hip-hop, rap is a hip hop term hijacked by Tipper Gore back in the day to use as an all encompassing term for "gangsta rap" instead of what it REALLY means "the music of Hip-Hop culture". Now young cats dont really know the difference, and its not they fault, its the mass media what done it.

BUT I do know that 50's Image is all made up, and that he is trying to get paid like everyone else, which is why I think underground heads hate, the UG cats still wanna get paid, but they are the one who wanna do it "on they own terms" and not flip who they are to sell records. Rass gets MAJOR RESPECT from me for this and if you see him live, he is a truly gifted MC, he should be on def poetry with his ish.
It seems to me the mainstream forces artists to behave certain ways to sell. Shyne is a good example, he aint no thug, and he has security, so why is he carrying a burner? cuz that is the "image" the publicist cultivates for him.

all in all, y'all need to give the young cat a break, I mean, even if he's been hip hoppin since he was 9, that was still 1993, and he dont have the breadth of experience some cats have.
