The 32 limit track count on LE systems is garbage. This is Digidesigns way of hinting to cats to make the HD plunge. Pretty greedy it's either low-budget deluxe or turn your pockets inside out. No mid-level sh*t, Digidesign is wack for that. Also, there are these little bugs that exist with LE systems that skew compatibility from time to time. Another one of Digi's 'hints'.
With Cubase, Logic, etc. your track count is based on processing power not built-in limitations. If you decide that you want to mix out 24 or 32 to a console, LE systems, nope!! But with anything else you can get like Apogee D/A 16's and make a great modular recording setup and mix OTB if you want...LE systems MAX is 16 using the lame analog outs + optical ADAT outs..thumbs down. But check this if you mix a beat leave the plugins and volume settings alone and bounce each track to a drive or CD, you can re-import the files in any DAW system and basically have the same mix. Only thing, you'd have to hit up your client in the studio with some panning information no big deal! I'm stuck in 001 hell because of the Mac OS X limitations. Basically my G4 wasn't good enough for me to upgrade to 10 and get an 002, I would have had to buy another card or sum'n...f*ckin con artists these companies..first chance I get financially, I will def. get Cubase or Nuendo....anyway I'm out...my 2/100..
