There is a few things that will give you better timing. You can double the resolution by doubling up the tempo and bars, but if you make a mistake it's really cumbersome going through step edit to make your edits. It's just a tad bit more confusing to locate the problem areas and such you want to edit.
You can also mess with the time signature. I found that if I put up the time signature to at least 16/16 the timing greatly improved instead of leaving it at 4/4. Mess with the timing signatures. It should help you out a bit more.
But yeah, the 1k has different timing and different swing than the other MPC's. The swing is either extremely rigid, just plain off time, or sounds like a gawd damn horses gallop (it's kinda funny, totally unusable unless you wanna make a comedy track or something), but whatever, there are things you can do to make the timing a little more pleasing to the ears. It's evidenced by cats who do manage and barely get by with it.
I had a 4k and the 1k and used a 60. My ears and experience tell me the differences. Too bad cats get defensive about nonsense. I can't believe I had to battle a bunch of nitwits about it, and I am still being "called out" about it for wanting to switch to something with better timing when none of my 4k beats had timing issues, and I switched Mpc's like this........... MPC 1k (6 months), 4k (10 months), 1k again (3 months), was using and still is using the MPC's as a complete standalone and only recently within the past 3 months got other gear besides an MPC, and it was just stuff for recording and mixing and monitoring. Lots of losers and hypocrites on this site, and cats who are just plain wrong.
