While I agree that the 3000 / 60 is fine the way it is, I welcome 3rd party developers making alternative OS's for them.

and someone who knows the story of the birth and development of MPC's better than anyone else I can think of. (MPC3000LE)
Roger Linn invented the MPC, akai offered him the resources to develop it. You will be very hard pressed to correct MPC3000LE. Since you're new around here and obviously don;t know everyone, i thought I'd save you the trouble of finding out the hard way.
if he says akai never wrote the OS in the first place, he's probably right.
Also, the new OS is floppy bootable and is quite stable and better than the last 3.11 OS, fixing bugs, adding features, you should check the link, there is no real risk.
