Indeed Jahrome ... you are not new to this forum.

What you appear to know based on how you word yourself seems only to be based on internet rumors and a few industry gossip stories.
IE: The stuff allowed for public consumption and subsequent mis-interpretation on the rumour mill.
Of course you could always back up your statement about AKAI being the OS inventors ...
IE: Provide some facts.
jahrome wrote:As far as Akai and Roger Linn...I wasn't there when they researched or developed the MPC 60/3000.
Oh ... so that is how you know so much about the development phase and contractual arrangements between AKAI and the people they contract out the software development work to.

jahrome wrote:I rarely had any troubles with OS 3.11. There really is no reason to do anything else with it.
No reason to do anything else with it based on ... ahhhm ... what again

jahrome wrote:I am not into programming...but I suspect that there is not much more you can do with the MPC 3000 without updating some of its hardware.
Suspect due to suspicion ? Suspicion leads to further suspicion ...
It is called the SNAFU principle ... a game without end.
So to continue ... My suspicion ? You know little of the hardware.
16 mHz CPU NEC-V53 ( an INTEL 286 on steroids ) + ROM + RAM + SOFTWARE + L6028DSP-A CHIP = the basis for what became many of AKAI's sampling products:
S2800, S3000, S3200XL, S2000, S3000XL, S3200XL, MPC3000, MPC3000LE, MPC2000, MPC2000XL and a lot of other stuff too.
That is quite a bit of machinery, with a vastly different feature set in some cases to the MPC3000.
...on the same basic hardware.
Got me ?
jahrome wrote:I am talking about graphic waveform editing..time stretch...and other sample editing tools. I could be wrong though...but until a 3rd party comes along and does that..its gospel.
Who's gospel Jahrome ? Consider that you may indeed be wrong.
The third party is already putting the wheels in motion.
Consider this too.
The other great cult samplers of all time didn't have graphic waveform editing. eg. MPC60, EPS/ASR, SP12/SP1200, EIII ...
...and, where time stretch is concerned. Wouldn't you rather do it some where else other than the MPC3000

jahrome wrote:Again...there is nothing I need from that OS upgrade. I have been fully aware of the OS upgrades posted at that MPC 3000 site. I just never felt the need to mess with a perfectly good machine for no good reason.
Peace.
The current OS updates don't mess with your machine, your sounds, songs or head.
No ones forcing you to use the updates or otherwise Jahrome.
The choice is yours.
It's there on floppy for free for now.
Available at a minimal charge for ROMS.
...and in a constant state of development for the future.
From one MPC3000 Fanatik to another ... PEACE !
Rohan.
