Here is my chat with tech support at cablestogo.com in regards to the connector for the HD.

Jeremy: No, unfortunately we don't carry an adapter that will let you connect an IDE drive to a SCSI interface.
Marc: how about if its not scsi, is there still some type of adapter for those pin sets?
Jeremy: We do carry an adapter that will let you connect it to a 40-pin IDE flat ribbon cable:

So I talked to cablesonline.com and i asked " I need to connect a laptop HD, 2.5" with a 44 Pin Connector to a 50 Pin Device."
He said such cable did not exist, atleast to his knowledge, but he said he can custom build one for me, with the correct information, like which 44 pin will corelate with the one of the 50 pins.. which i figured was possible, but needed to figure out pin configuration data on both the akai connection and the 2.5 HD, which turned me off rather quick since i aint a commputer techy.
anyways..

I called to ask for the instructions on how to install the drive & spoke to someone in the service dept. He said he would send me info on how to do it, but all I got was the response below...

This will actually require a special rack to be put in the drive bay which will be offered from our Parts dept. in the next few months. Also an operating system upgrade will be needed and in currently in development. Currently these is not support yet for this to be upgraded. But full documentation will be available once this is implemented.

So the point of this email from support is...don't try to figure this out yourself, just wait for the part from akai because the os will need to be upgraded, which supposedly isn't ready yet...

cos if people are going out to buy these HDs already then when they release the part with this new OS its already sold (...whatever they wanna charge for it)

Why? Are there 50 pin connectors in the MPC1000? Why do you keep mentioning SCSI?
A fellow a few post back said it was a 50HD pin connection inside the MPC 1000, the SCSI ish is just to describe the DB25 Pin Stlye Conector outline, i guess.
