Whats the verdict on other Bob James albums (Besides 1,2,3)

I Feel You ICHY BUT............................................................

for the non jazz purist...........
the classical fusion jazz blend can be very interesting........EVEN FUN........

and some of it is too sweetened but it does have it's place..............

would i hold any of this up to MONK.........no.........and someone commented on alot of the Ramsey Lewis Fusion type pieces fair enough.....

but somehow these BOB JAMES pieces have come to define alot of HIPHOP material.........almost HISTORICALLY...........................


I remember shopping at Music Factory in NY....................

(Years Ago)and I Went in and asked Do You guys have BOB JAMES 1,2,3 or 4 and was Quickly answered NO I'M Sorry Maybe next week.............

I hung out and shopped the store and AMAZIN'LY so I Heard the Same Clerk on the Phone TALKIN' to ERIC B on the Phone SAY Yeah MAN We GOT BOB JAMES 1,2 and 3 on hold for You nah we Don't Have 4 tho'........




I was HOT...........AND Nearly BLACKED OUT..................

Bottom Line Those Tracks on 1,2,3 and yes 4 are Legendary..........

I got a copy of 3, but I gotta look over it again for samples. I like it more for listening then sampling. But 1 & 2 i prefer to sample off of, I killed something serious from 2, but its gonna be in the vaults for a while

No doubt, 4K. I completely acknowledge Bob's place and indirect participation in hiphop history. His breaks are classics among classics.
That's why I have doubles of 1, 2, 3, & 4..........and I've still held onto Touchdown, Lucky Seven, Hands Down, and probably a couple others I'm forgetting.

Bob is the man I've finely got dubles of 3 and 4, now the the search continues for 1 and 2. One of my favorate Bob James produced albems is Romeo & Juliet by Hubert Laws.

Yo when I first herd Nautilus it was like shock and aww, it blew my mind and even to this day there has not been one JAZZ album to hit me that way. From time to time I think about why this album strikes me so hard and I think it's because if you love hiphop this record fills a void and makes a connetion between you and those great minds who sampled the record Premo, Eric B, Jazzy Jeff, Jam Master J, RZA. I don't know for me hearing then being able to own ONE made me feel like I was a tru hiphop head it was like a true validtion of my hiphop status as a fan. I would've loved to have seen premos face when he first heard Nautilus.
