The only Lazy buggers are Akai for not developing their sh!t before they put it out and making cats wait for 2-3 flowers years for the functionality of their machines to be commensurate with the asking price, and still be sub par with the technology that is being used by other companies.
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!!! FULLY!!!! but we all know this and accept it but still complain and still buy there ****! so hence i still lazy buggers but really ur RIGHT!
haha
I ain't buying their ish no more........
Only thing I'm using that's akai now is the dps12, and at a future date I'm sure I won't be using that either. I'm using it until the wheels fall off then I'll use something else non Akai or maybe computer based for recording.
There's so much more out there for gear, and other companies are making leaps and bounds with their gear and it's going under the radar of a lot of hip hop cats because it comes in a different package than the beatbox MPC.
No one has to be reliant on Akai or MPC's. You want real time timestretch? Delay? Timestretch? Note shifting? Zoning? etc. etc. well go buy something that has all of what you are looking for and be happy, because it's out there for you, even if it's not in your MPC. I just realized this.
Instead of belly aching and wishing the 1k had this and that and being disappointed because there was a lot of things I couldn't do with it, I said flowers it and bought something that had everything I needed, and I'm kicking myself because I should have bought something like this in the first damn place instead of just buying something that was known for making ruff hip hop beats.
I purchased the Triton Extreme, and I'm really happy with it. The sampling engine is killer, it uses cf card and loads wav files. Has both a master and a slave usb port for cd rom, hard drive or even a usb hub to connect a bunch of ish. Has tons of dope sounds. The tube that it has makes things sound really warm and gives enough bass to bring down the house. The tbe tube really transforms and gives madd feel to sounds. Efx are killer, has that same timestretching capabilities as the 2500, also has something that is exactly like recycle. You can put in as much slices wherever you want in a sample, and it's all layed out across the keys. The sequencer has tons more options. If I want that gritty sound I can change the bit rate of samples to as low as 8 bit I believe and it actually sounds really good.
So basically I can make any style of music with this thing even the old fashioned dirty boom bap to lil jon ish if I wanted to. It's just that versatile. Plus, I'm starting to learn keys and learn about synthesis hands on, and it's in the same price range as an MPC. This type of thing is labeled more as a crunk or a pop machine, but if cats would open their eyes and see what the capabilities of the machines are instead of WHO uses them and for what style it's primarily "known" for and made their purchases based on that, I think we would have more happy beatmakers in the world.
