Advice on MPC's

I'm basically looking to start producing, I'm thinking of getting an MPC but i'm unsure as to whats better for a beginner. Please give me tips/suggestions/advice as to what MPC i should get if any.
Midi Keyboard
Production Programme (CuBase, Fruity Loops, Reason)
MPC/Sampler/Sequancer

Is there anything else i need to get started. Any advice welcome

Monitors would be another addition. I would strongly suggest doing a search about any question you have. There are plenty of suggetion on product done over and over again almost on any product here. So do a search.

Musical taste is a personal preference. What one person may say you need is only his/her opinion. So take what anyone tells you and think if you really need it or if it even applies to you.

i would suggest, before spending some money on equipment, download some software, play around with it for a couple months. if it grows on you maybe you can look into getting some hardware, or going the software route, which most people seem to be headed

if your just getting into it, then try it out first.

yeah. software until you know better. how old are you? how serious are you? either way, before dropping upwards of 2000 + dollars on equipment, learn as much as you can about software.

then, when people say your beats sound good, look into hardware. tell us what exactly you want - do you need a machine that does realtime filter sweeps? or do you even know what that is yet? we need to know what stage you are at, etc. i started producing at 13 on cool edit, moved to acid pro, moved to reason, and finally bought an mpc 1000 when i was 19, last december. in one brief year i have learned more than i had in all the previous years put together, but THAT IS ONLY BECAUSE i started on software and because of this i had the proper electronic programming background necessary to learn the mpc as quickly as i did.

To be honest mate i would have prefered to go that route but i'm 20 now and i havn't really got the time/money to go the long way round. I am willing to spend a while learning with what i have but i dont want to keep replacing. Would you suggest this would be a good start (i know it will take a while to figure out but its better to have what i need)

MPC 1000/2000 (Trying to figure whats better for me)
Reason 3.0 (was looking into Fruity Loops but i've heard a lot of people bashing it, plus i've heard reason has many more features, also a friend has used it before so i could get tips off him!!??)

look at Ableton Live before buying either Fruity or Reason.

download a demo and try it.

if your def set on getting an mpc. might as well go for an mpc1000 while your starting. if your coupling it with any of the software packages mentioned ^^ it will be more than all you need.

depends what you wanna make mate...

are you gonna be sampling? I havn't used reason but depending on what you're producing you could be better off just getting a cheap 2nd hand sound module, than bucks on a laptop

i used FL when it first came out, but I've got further with programming, sequencing & sampling in the 6 weeks since i bought the xl and a Roland 1080, and you can get a good price on a nice 2nd hand xl
