the hard drive is to be used for storage of samples, projects, seqs and pgms, to name a few uses. so it's more than just "who in the ____will be able to utilise 312.5 128mb sets.

i don't believe there is a limit on the amount of folders. i use a 1gig CF card and i have about 75 folders on that one card.

i never heard of a directory error regarding the amount of folders.

it's a regular laptop hard drive. i've never heard a laptop hard drive hum. and if one did, that wouldn't be on akai, that would be with the hard drive manufactuer.

Can u partion the disk like 2gb 20xs so it will be like more them one hd in side?

good question. i don't know. i can find out for you i just know that reason for the initial 2gb partition is due to the current os.

Sparq,

Good work !

That new Akai HDM10 HDD Adapter "proprietary" interface connector sure looks identical to the one used inside my old Roland VS-880. I have a couple VS-880 Drive interface kits laying around somewhere. Once my ebay MPC1000 arrives next week, I'll just check and see if they might fit, and buzz it out with o-scope. ( I have the Roland Service Manual) I bet in Tokyo, this "odd" Laptop IDE drive connector inside the MPC1000's Main board is more common to other gear.


EDIT - I checked, and - - - Nope the old VS-880 HDD adapter is a completely different animal. :(

BTW - Anyone know where the Akai MPC1000 Service Manual can be located?
