haha nah i would never say that. i really like my 1000. even without the new features. i tell anyone who wants on just research into what your getting and dont **** about what it dont have after you buy it.. but anyways all joking aside. i think you will deeply regret trading your 1000 becuase the person who your trading with probably knows about all the new features that the 1000s going to get. as far as chop shop goes. no offense but dont be lazzzzzzzzy just chop its getting to a point where we dont even make beats we just pick sounds and let the mpc do the rest.

Good choice! You'd probably get bored of the MC-909 and regret it anyway. Also keep in mind that the MC-909's sequencer is limited to 16 tracks. That's weak compared to the 1k!

their chop function is pretty neat.
auto sync....not too shabby.
real time time stretching....its pretty good, but with my setup with an mpc/xtsation/ableton, i am doing the same thing. although if someone offered a trade, i wouldn't mind. its a good way to experiment with a new way of making new music. ask your friend if they can teach you how to drop some grooves on it before the trade.

Fo real, NOTHING beats the MPC family as sampling/sequencing workstations, and with the new OS, the 1000 is about to get a whole lot better than it already was. I've never worked with the MC909 but I've used the MC303 and I can't even begin to count the ways in which that machine sucks. The 909 is probably a lot better because it's a sampler and has a real screen, but I still wouldn't trade my MPC2000xl (or SP1200, Ha!) for it in a million years.

Not that the majority always knows better, but why do you think MPCs are used by EVERYBODY, and you hardly ever see an MC909 in a studio?

Both the MC-909 and the MPC1000 are excellent. You can't really compare them, however. They're too different in so many areas. It's like when people try to compare a workstation, such as the Fantom-X to an MPC. There just isn't any fair way to do it.

As for the MC-303, it is worlds apart from the MC-909. Here there is a fair comparison. The MC-909 is easily ten times better than the older MC-303.

You have to decide whether the MC-909 or the MPC1000 fits your style of music and the way you work. Just making a broad request and generalized replies about these two machines isn't going to help anyone. This is an MPC website and the forum members will be biased towards that recommendation.

Do you really need the synth sounds in your set up. I'm a sample head so I really don't need what the MC909 has to ofer. I say keep the 1000 and cop an Motif rack.

yo...i got an MPC 1k. Works great. Just do you. If you cant make beats on your 1k then... you know what's best for you. Just make that shit pop. But I tell ya what... you'll most likely regret it later.

Yea, no offense, but i've know a couple cats that have some products from Roland. Nothing but garbage if u ask me. The only Roland i think possibly worth consideration is the MV-8000. Even then i'd go with Mpc4000, or try to find an old school mpc60.

Guilty as charged.

And true, they are so different that it's hard to compare the two. Maybe ask yourself this question: do you prefer realtime banging on pads and listening, or do you want an x0x-style sequencer with more visual feedback. I know you can do realtime on the 909 but the way the pads are layed out make each machine more suitable for either style...

If I was doing trance or house I might be more interested in the 909, for the realtime control, synth functions and x0x-style sequencer. But for the sample-based hiphop I make, nothing beats the empeecee... All IMHO, my personal views ofcourse.
