Pads driving me crazy

I've been using my 60 for about 3 months now and this is a new problem for me. It seems like my pads are "going out". They are either too sensative or not sensative at all. I can't even think about 16th note hats right now cause they all sounds stuttered and doubled up. ARG and if I wanna do light kicks or w/e they all sound full velocity or they don't even trigger. The first month or so I had little to no problems. Now it seems like I cant get a damn drum track done. I'm about to say **** it and sell my 60 for a damn sp12 since I mainly use it for drums because I'm still working on my technique in between 50 hours of class a week.

I think new pad sensors are about $100.

Is that for each pad?

Sounds like a loose connection to me, possibly a dirty ribbon cable.

open it up and make sure all the cables are seated correctly. maybe clean the pad sensors, that can cause problems too.

IM HAVING SIMILAR SYMPTOMS WITH MY 60!!!

exactly how do you open up and clean the pads on a MKII?? ive checked out the FAQ and didnt see anything regarding this, did i miss something?? i know how to open up and get to the SCSI board and EPROMs and memory area, but i dont remember having access to the pads through this area...
id like to tryt and clean the pads/sensors before i have to buy new pads and sensors since ive already pumped mad cash into this thing...

loose connection could be it.

Few weeks after I had bought mine , maybe 3 pads started actin up (tryin to record a 1bar loop and suddenly my untouched tom 3 starts playin ) or a hihat pad that suddenly starts being multi-tapped by unknown forces. weird stuff.

So one day I opened up this old ****, and started cleaning like hell, every board unscrewed, cleaned with q-tips, took out the little hihatfader (used some oil to make it smooth again), the plastic buttons. Unplugged the board beneath the drumpads, put the rubber pad thing in a bowl of warmish water, gently whiped off the dust of the sensor thingy etc.

I can use my very smooth hihat glider option for the first time

Word Florre, that would be dope if you could post some pics.

it;s the same on both Mk I and II, you have to get right beneath the pads, and unscrew the plate, it's pretty self explanitory once you get under there, you may have to remove a ribbon cable or disconnect the slider board to pull out the sensor board, but once you clean it you should be alright. If the cleaning doesn;t do it, my last most to the FAQ concerns the ribbon foil care and feeding, but not for the faint of heart.

NOTE: I did this all on myself, so don't take all of this for granted, ask the experienced members if you really got technical questions.

also removed "1" & "3", for drumpads, just remove "2"

(3=(mkI) the -6- screws attaching the ill leather armrest! there can be a lot of dirt underneath it)

all the red dots are screws who need to be removed, the red lines indicate a ribbon that needs to be plugged out (I don't think the one at the right needs to be plugged out, you can gently shove the drumpadboard). Be gentle!

Nice going Florre, This should go into the FAQ.

But the thin ribbon at the bottom of board number 2 does not need to be removed, it can be removed to clean it, but it is not necessary to get at the drum pads.

That's the one I cleaned and fixed in my last FAQ post where I scraped some corrosion off and had so fix a crack in a trace to get my pad 13 to stop false triggering.

What is insteresting to me is my pad sensors are a different color. Mine aren;t that dark brown, they are like a yellowish faded clear color (except for the sensors themselves, that;s the same).

anyone else seen their pad sensors?
