Wassup y'all
I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on eq'ing drums.

What I want to do:
1. EQ a drum kick and a snare sound
2. Then bring 'em into my mpc to do my track and further EQ,process, etc.
3. Record into Pro Tools for further tweaking.

Can someone enlighten me on how I can achieve item # 1 effectively. With the gear I have (see below)? With other types of software/hardware? I'm wondering if any of you cats have a process that's tried tested and true and seems to work well.
Thanks,
Tha Saint

your spending alot of time just doing something that you can do when you track into protools. but you can get a program like soundforge and eq them there.

it depends on a lot of stuff, like what kind of sounds you're using, and what other parts are in the track. in general, I usually use mostly subtractive EQ, and try to roll off frequencies which aren't helping the particular sample...for example, take off a few dB around 200-400 hz on the kick drum, so it still has that sub slam, but leaves room for your bass sound. in general, try to trim all the unneeded frequencies as much as you can. this will allow maximum sound definition and space in the freq spectrum for stuff to stay clear. will also make your dynamics processing more effective.

i like the filters of the 1000, just not the eq effects.

the easiest thing is to eq when you have recorded everything into pt. do the mixing in pt. i don't see why you would like to do it two times?
