Max sounds like the 2kXL

Does the 2500 have a cap on the max sounds. Like the 2kXL has a cap at 256 sounds. I think that was the number? I saw you know 100,000 events, 32 voice, but i didn't see anything about the max sounds on the AKAI website.

i'm not totally sure what "max sounds" means. perhaps that's an mpc term that i'm not familiar with. can you explain what that term means? is it perhaps the max number of samples loaded in memory? the max number of samples in a program? the max number of samples played simultaneously? the max number of samples used in a sequence?

In my 2kXL manual in specifications the sound generator says that you can only load 256 samples into the memory max. I was curious if the 2500 has a similar cap on the number of samples loaded into the memory.

Did you try reading the 2500 manual?

don' t have the 2500 yet it is coming. tried to find it in the pdf version but i hate reading manuals off the computer

I understand, the screen hurts your eyes sometimes, but, ya know someone was going ask you right?

right ; I looked on the manual anyways and the sound generator section said nothing of a max number of sound so i would assume they didn't put a number on the max amount of sample instead they set the limit as the munber of MB you have installed?

I'll look around also and post my findings, IF I find something.

it doesn't specify on the 2500. but you can have up to 1 sound per pad (16) per bank times 4 banks per program and you can have 24 programs loaded at once. so with the extended memory (128mb), you can in a sense have up to 1536 sounds in memory. but i see that's what the manual says for the 2kxl, so i don't know. the above specs are from the manual of ech respective unit.

you can have four samples per pad, right? so that'd be 16 * 4 * 24 which is 1536 so the number was right but i just wanted to clarify that.

it may be though that with the 2000xl (and maybe the 2500) that you can only have 256 samples loaded in memory but as everybody has noticed it's not mentioned in the manual.

i forgot about the layering of a pad... so actually my number of 1536 is wrong. i was talking about 1 layer per pad * 16 * 4 * 24 which is illogical...

this is the correct formula:
4 layers per pad * 16 pads = 64 sounds. * 4 banks = 256 sounds per program. * 24 programs now = 6144 sounds.

i don't know. i've never took my mpc to that max. i don't know how it will handle all of that.

is the max sounds on the 2000 per program because if so then the max sounds on the 2500 is also 256.

256 is the max in the memory that is total between all the programs so you can only have that many in the memoryat one time not per program
