The regular Wav Snd Pgm and Seq work fine right. Has some one tried this?

They should and do work. Its just that people want to use some ALL type files of the XL which are not supported by the 2500 as of the latest OS nor was the 2500 advertised to do such a thing.

aaahhhh!!!!! that angers me sooo much!!!! is there any logical reason that akai would do that? why wouldn't they just make the 2500 able to read APS and ALL files????? this sucks. it's my only hindrance. i would buy it immediately if it wasn't for that. suckas....

Angers

You are not forced to buy the 2500 :D

For name, simply save your XL programs as files to a standard program file/sample file. Load a few of these up into the 2500, and save as an MPC 2500 project file. With OS 1.00, this is your only option. If that is the only reason (when there are a dozen reasons why the 2500 is a better solution than the XL).......I am speechless for once

MPC Editor===A NO GO!!! The Songs wouldn't load---only sounds. So I'm going up to Guitar Center today and see if I can do it up there on their XL--if not--I'll find someone in Chicago with a 2000.

i don't need to be forced. i...like many others really want the 2500, BUT i don't understand why they wouldn't have this issue resolved. i'm sure they knew tons of kats would want to transition from the 2000xl to the 2500 so why wouldn't they make this easier for THEIR customers. UNLESS they ran into some sort of difficulty tryin' to get the 2500 to read ALL and APS files...i see no reason for them to slip on this issue. stupidity IMO. no one wants to go through the hassle of changing all of their APS and ALL files to single SEQ and PGM files. sucks!!!! i hope they can fix this with a new OS.

the 1000 has that new OS 2 comin'.....but it still sucks. i would have to go through much drama just to be able to transfer my files. akai...they disappoint me....

By wiz1der Tue Nov 15, 2005 7:20 pm
dude, stop bitchin about it and start transferring your files.

I didn't find out about this until AFTER i got the 2500, and i just sold my 2000xl.

So I went and bought another 2000xl used and i started transferring, instead of sitting on the internet bitching about something i couldnt change.

Now all my 2000xl files are 2500 ready.

not tryna dis you, im jus sayin either you wanna move to the 2500, or you don't.

Were people bitchin about the 2000xl when it came out because it wouldn't load mpc60 .PAR files? the 2000xl would not play 16levels or tunings from your sequence, because it wouldn't load the >par files from the 60. No, people just had to re-do all thier sequences....

the 2500 will take over the world....

1. slow that down cuz.

2. nobody's complaining just to complain.

3. everybody knows that unless there was a huge technical difficulty on akai's end that would prevent them from making things easier for their customers.....they have no excuse. they messed up on major piece. as i said before....i hope a new os fixes this.....

I read the file compatability specs the first day they were available from Akai and I read that it only loaded seq, pgm, and snd/wav files, just like most other people here. I think alot of you guys jumped the gun and sold your xl's too soon to get 2500's.

Thanks guinea pigs. This is the price you pay for diving head first into new technology from a company who's last two products (1000 and 4000) are still bug riddled. The software is ver. 1.00 for a reason. If you don't mind not working on music because your drum machine doesn't do what you bought it to do, I guess it's ok. The problem is alot of you guys are complaining, when Akai told you from the start.

Like many others, you are here for one reason...you are a little disappointed that your beloved MPC 2000XL doesn't do everything that you want it to do and you have a hard-on for that MPC 2500

I am very much happy with the MPC 2500..and it is not 'bug riddled' as the MPC 1000 and 4000..as you say. A lot of you catz are new to the game. In addition to the MPC 1000 and 40000, when the MPC 2000 and 2000XL dropped, there were some issues with the OS. Akai updated them rather quickly.

Akai clearly stated what the MPC 2500 can read. It can even read things that are not indicated in the specs. Once XL users get there hands on the 2500 (even with OS 1.00), their XLs we be up on eBay within a week. Just don't forget to save your XL ALL files to standard program and sequence files before auctioning off your XL

My 4000 has no problems or bugs. Which bugs do you have?

i don't understand why you would say the 1000 new OS still sucks and in the same breath you said you really want the 2500..... in terms of software, the only difference between the 2500 and the 1k OS2 is the 1k v2.0 does not have chop shop and grid edit. everything else (as far as software) is identical. ok, the 2.5 has the dedicated number pad 2 extra q-link controllers, 2 extra midi outs and the additional assignable outs and the ability to have a cd. other than that, they are the same machine.

so that's a bit of a contridiction.... don't you think?

i know this is off the topic of what you were originally talking about but that 1 comment to me is questionable.

but you are right, they should have made it a litlle easier for cats wanting to transition from the XL to the 2.5k. who knows, maybe in a future OS update, they will add that support.

exactly! is that too much to ask for? i still have my xl. what i wanna know is if anyone has heard if akai will definintely do an os update for the 2500 that will allow it to read APS and ALL?

Its obvious that the compatibilty with XL ALL files was not an issue for guys like me that purchased the MPC 2500. Those that don't even own the machine can continue complaining and keep using the MPC that they always have :D

As far as the MPC 1000 and 2500, being identical....keep dreaming. Because as of today, they are not. The new OS for the MPC 1000 is not available. If it was so great, everyone will already have it. The MPC 2500 is getting an OS update as well.

The MPC 1000 isn't on the same level as the XL let alone the 2500. Yes, the Chop Shop and the Grid edit are big editions to the 2500. As are the additional MIDI outputs, more (balanced ) analog outs, CDR/DVDR support, better/larger pads, adjustable LCD,, etc.

Will the new MPC 1000 OS support in-track sampling and continuous sample track? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Let me end this with a repeated quote from Akai regarding the MPC 1000 "Anyone who wanted an MPC but could not afford it!"  Even though it costs $600-$1000 less.

Just joking and poking fun...but serious at the same time  :D
