Roland maybe the micro$oft of the instrument industry and they may charge for their manuals, but all of the equipment I ever bought from them has been stable.

The MV-8000 is compatible with the MPC2000. So there is already a degree of compatibility with the MPC series.MPC_prod, make up yer mind!
The MV-8000 isn't supposed to read AKAI format disks. From the Roland website: "Sampler compatible with a variety of audio formats: Audio CD, .WAV/AIFF, ACID, Akai MPC2000/4000 Series and Roland S-700 Series".What I'm sayin' is just that: Roland's web site says "MPC4000/MPC2000" compatibilty and Roland's demonstrator at AES said "all MPCs, and all Akai samplers". I tried it myself and it don't even read MPC2000XL programs from ISO CD-Roms, only WAV files, so forget 'bout Akai CD-Roms!
