MPC1000 hookup to Reasons, volume problems...

Whats up yall, im trying to hook my MPC1000 up to my computer so I can use Reasons with it, im not using a midi controller or anything, im just using my MPC1000 and its pads to create the sounds, It seems like I have it hooked up right but the volume that comes out when i use Reasons is very low, ive tried messing around with all the volume options on my mpc and on my computer but nothing seems to work, here is how I have it hooked up...MPC1000 midi-out(A) to my computer soundcard midi-in, then I have cables from my rca outs in my computer soundcard to my MPC1000 record-in slots. Im sure this has been asked before and you guys will just tell me to do a search, but I did a lot of searches, not just in this forum, and I couldnt come up with anything, you dont get the best results when you use the word Reasons lol. Any help you guys can give me is very appreciated, peace.

first of all, what type of sound card are you using?

second, does all of the stuff you play from your computer come out quietly?

third, do you realise that sound is not transferred via midi cables, only music language?

fourth, why do you have the outs of your sound card going into your mpc's record ins?

answer me those and i'll see what i can do to help. i use reason with my mpc all the time and love it to death.

first answer antonyms questions then take a look at my video on reason and the mpc (in my video signature below) and unless you want to sample sounds from reason, you should not have anything going to the record in on the mpc. that is only for sampling.

1) M-Audio Audiophile 2496
2) I tried using Absynth 3 also and it the volume was still real low, I had it hooked up differently before and the sound from reasons played through my computer speakers, and the volume was fine, but I want it to play and record through my mpc.
3) No didnt realize that, im not too "music literate" as far as terminology and theories and all that.
4) I thought in order to record anything from an external source you have to have cables going from the external source to the mpc's record-in outlets.

I peeped your video before I even got my MPC1000 lol, its a great video by the way, and its very helpful, but as far as what cords to hook up where it didnt help me as much because you were using a midi keyboard with it, and im not, im just using my mpc pads, so i think the connections are gonna be a little different...but I could be wrong...thanks for the reply sparq.

ok so from that setup just take the keyboard out of the equation. cuz, even by me having a midi keyboard connected, if i wanted to bang the pads instead of using the keyboard, i could have. the keyboard was just extra. it was not part of the necessary setup.

Ok, so the only connection i have is my MPC1000 midi-out(A) to my computer soundcard midi-in, but when i play or record something, it comes out of my computer speakers, not the mpc, and when i make my drums, they come out of my mpc, I just want it so everything plays and records in my mpc so I dont have to wear two headphones at the same time or anything.

is your mpc connected to your monitors? are your monitors connected to your soundcard(audio interface) output? if so then in reason, you have to choose your audio card that has the monitors connected by going to the audio page in preferences in reason.

I have a rather weird setup because my computer speakers plug is a 1/8inch, and i have to have my speakers connected to my soundcard(this was all setup previously for recording vocals before i even got an mpc) but I dont have a 1/8inch plug in my soundcard, so what i had to do was buy a head amp(a unit with 4 1/4 headphone jacks) and i have a cable plugged in from my head amp to my soundcard, and then I got a 1/8inch to 1/4inch adapter, plugged my speakers into the adapter and then plugged it into one of my head amp outputs. I know thats probably a pretty confusing setup, but its the only setup i can use with my type of speakers while using it with my souncard. As far as my mpc goes, I usually just use it with headphones, or if i want to use my computer speakers, i will unconnect it from my head amp and plug it into the back of my mpc, but sound only comes from one speaker because its only one 1/4 plug, not two, for left and right.

Man just reading that is so confusing no disrespect. But ,from wht i'm reading is that you got it ///////rig up,and that's ok for now ,do wht you got to do.But! you need to get a mixer,maybe from the pawn a 4-12 channel mixer,and receiver or amp,so you can elimanate that switching back n forth crap,that's taking to much of your time from making beats man come on man!!!! use some wisdom,don't shoot your self in the foot

Yeah I know it probably seems real confusing to you guys but it has worked for me so far and its really my only option unless i spend more money, I havent had to do any switching back and forth though, or i should say yet. Im gonna try to sum up my set-up in the least confusing way.

Monitors>Head Amp>Sound Card

(incase some of you dont know or didnt read above, my Head Amp is a 4 1/4inch jack adapter)

MPC1000>Sound Card (via midi)

I usually just use headphones for my mpc1000, not my monitors

The problem with my set-up now is that i can only hear Reasons through my monitors hooked up to my computer, I dont hear Reasons through my mpc1000, whether I record or just play.

Hopefully this clears up some confusion and makes my problem a little easier to figure out...

yes soyo, you are a smartass indeed lol but either way, your not gonna get very good results using reason or reasons, and I know its says reason on the box, but i see and hear people calling it reasons all the time.

I think i have an idea of what my problem is, and its a rather simple conclusion, but right now, my MPC and Reason is coming out of two different sound sources, i use headphones for my MPC, and I use my computer monitors for Reason, and in order for me to hear my MPC sounds, and my Reason sounds at the same time coming from the same sound source, my MPC and Reason have to be using the same sound source(like my computer monitors). Would you guys agree to this conclusion or does someone have a different theory? If this is the solution to my problem, then I have a new problem at hand, how do I hook my MPC and Reason(my computer) to the monitors I have...can someone help a brother out for the love of god, my head is about to explode lol.
