Hey guys, i just copped the mpc 1000.

I go to tc (f1) for my quantize settings. I scroll down to note, play pad "a1" then go to swing and adjust it to 65%. And press "do it"

I press (f1) again,, and go to note: and play pad "a2" and the screen shows that its set at a swing of 65% as well, if i adjust that to 51%, my first pad "a1" goes to 51% as well?

I though you could get the pad notes to swing differently?

Question 2: can't i adjust the swing of my hats, while my track is playing back? so i can hear the changes in realtime?

You can decide wich note to quantisize.
When you press T.C you see Note:ALL
Just press for example pad 15 where you might have your hihat and only that sound will be quantised/swinged.

But i recommend you have different sounds on different tracks. Its much easier to edit and manage everything.

just track your sounds out. track 1 kick , track 2 snare, track 3 hats. then adjust from there. works for me. gyeah

if you want more control. record all your drums, or as much as you can during a performance (as you normally would) onto 1 track.

say there is a kick, snare, hi-hat closed, hi-hat open, and 4 toms.

you'd copy the track 7 times.

the first copy, press erase, and change it to "EXCEPT NOTE", then hit the pad you want that track to be. and so on and so forth for every track. then you can adjust the quantize individually and the mute for each sound.

How is that more control. Seems redundant to me, if anything.

Soyo answer is correct. You have to press the pad you want to swing different not "note all" .

Are you on the right corresponding track when you're making adjustments?

A faster way to seperate out the tracks like he is saying would be to use the MOVE feature in SEQ EDIT. This way you can simply move one or multiple notes to another track instead of copying then deleting.

nah that method of doing it on one track and copying/erasing once u hav the tracks copied is blatently best. i know when i tap out a beat i wanna play with snare kik and hi hats in one go, not quite as fun tapping out a kik, snare and wat-not separately - its doiable but i wouldnt find it as natural to make a drum break......nah, i like that idea samuraisam suggested, makes sense to moi

You misunderstood my friend... It is the same method as far as recording it all on 1 track... of course u gotta record em on at the same time... I was only showing a faster way to split the sounds to separate tracks after u got em recorded. Using MOVE in SEQ edit lets u do it in 1 step instead of copying then deleting which is 2 steps.

Timing correct will always show whatever setting you last made, not what setting you had when you recorded that track. Ive always thought it would be cool if the swing setting would be saved for each track but its not like that. For example: You record your hats with 59% swing and shift timing at 2 then go to your kick drum track and record in 16th note triplets. Then when you go back and look at your hats, the timing correct will still say 16th notes triplets but the hats will still be 59% swing. The MPC does not keep track of that for you unfortunately.

Exactly what im talking about!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!

Is there anyways the mpc can keep track of my swing percentages on different tracks? So i know what percentage each of my tracks are swinging at.

Do any other models of the mpc keep track of this for you?
