Mr modnaR wrote:sparq: with the start/end adjustment with the Q-Links, does each slider's range correspond with the entire sample? ie if the Q-Link 2 slider is right to the top, does that make the end point go right to the beginning?
ok if i understand you correctly, here is the answer to this. Q1 controls the start point of the sample and Q2 controls the endpoint. the Q1 slider is down, the start point is at the beginning of the sample and when Q2 is slider is up, the end point is at the end of the sample. if the Q1 slider is up when you go into trim mode and you move it, the start point jumps to where it should be according to the location of the slider at the time you move it. same goes for Q2 and the endpoint.

Mr mondnaR wrote:Also how does the fine adjustment you mentioned work? i was just thinking that maybe if you adjusted the end in a little way, and then wanted to adjust it out with the shift key pressed, wouldn't the slider hit the end of its slot before the sample?
i was wrong with stating that you can get finer adjustments using the q-link slider and the shift key. in order to do that you would have to use the method we are all accustomed to doing and that is using the shift + left/right arrow then data wheel. i apologize for my statement in the video regarding the fine adjustment method.

ok, that's cool about the fine adjustment, but what i meant about the sliders was: if the Q1 is down, the start point is at the start of the sample, as you said. now, if the Q1 slider is up, does that mean the start point is at the end of the sample, or does it just go half way? i might have to pop up london to have a go on a 2500 if it's the same on that. cheers man, and watch it with that honky-talk!

SHOCK! HORROR! ANOTHER OS 2.0 QUESTION INSTEAD OF WHINING!!! READ ON, IF YOU DARE...................

Yo Sparq, is the CF card limit still 2GB on the new os? i was wondering if it was a hardware limitation or not. Cheers. Was just thinking, cos you can get a laptop hard drive-to-cf card adaptor, so you could have a quieter, more robust setup with a larger flash drive than with an actual laptop drive. sure it's be more expensive, but just a thought. :D

sparq wrote:the other thing that i'm finding that's becomming a problem is the detect tempo in the timestretch screen. about 98% of the time it works without a flaw but the other two times it's reading the sample a lot faster than i know it to be. for example, i brought in a sample that i knew the tempo was 94bpm and when i ran it through detect tempo, it came back with a tempo of 144bpm. are you experiencing this jahrome? i already told akai about the latter back in october, so hopefully that part of this is corrected.

I think this is a problem with tempo dectect algorithms on most pieces of equipment. A few things I've used have problems detecting tempo on certain loops, as it's not always an exact science, especially if you're working with a loop that is reasonably complex, hit-wise

thank you man. look, sparq. i'm sorry, but tension is high these days. didn't mean to burst out but you said what you said. peace.

Tech Sp. are watching. their the ones who handle the o.s problems and make adjustment hopefully the timestrecth is taken care of. T" 8)

sparq wrote:ok jahrome, here's what i tried. when i first read the post in the 2.5k section regarding the timestretch bug, i tried to duplicate the bug to no avail, i can overwrite a timestreched sample with no problem. that's why i said what i did there, but now after you asked me to look for more bugs, i came across this in the timestrech feature. (i can not reproduce it everytime but this is what i did:

-i'm working with an accurate 2 bar sample
-i have my original tempo set to 100 and the new tempo set at 105. (the actual tempo of my sample is not 100bpm but it's said that you can timestretch samples by percentage by setting the original tempo to 100 and the new tempo to 105 if you want to speed it up 5% or to 95 to slow the sample by 5%) i've done this before numerous times but now when i do it, it first said "insufficient memory" when i know that is physically impossible and then right after that, i got that screen with the garbled row at the top. so i turned off the mpc and turned it back on. followed the same steps as above and it worked without a hitch. i repeated it about 5 times in a row, no problem. then i went the other direction, setting my new tempo at 95 and as soon as i hit do it, i got that same screen. so after i turned it back on i followed the same steps with 95 as my new tempo and nothing wrong happened. it worked like it's supposed to.

so is this a bug on the 1k, yes.

the other thing that i'm finding that's becomming a problem is the detect tempo in the timestretch screen. about 98% of the time it works without a flaw but the other two times it's reading the sample a lot faster than i know it to be. for example, i brought in a sample that i knew the tempo was 94bpm and when i ran it through detect tempo, it came back with a tempo of 144bpm. are you experiencing this jahrome? i already told akai about the latter back in october, so hopefully that part of this is corrected.

yeah man i was playing with a 2500 and everytime it would double the tempo of a loop. the dude loaded 2 bar drum loops and it came out as 160 instead of 80. i was going to ask if that was a problem with the current os that sparq had but i seem to have forgot.

it's a shame- it would be great maybe if a blk 1000 owner in japan could post the new manual, i for one would love to familiarize myself with it so that when 2.0 does come out, i could get straight to making beats and not have to spend too much time figuring the new features and shortcuts out.

the first sensible post for quite a while, and from a 6-post-old kid too! lol

I'd like this, but I'm guessing a lot of the new bits in the manual are all mixed in with the old bits, and scanning in the 100 or so pages of the english section at a decent enough quality to use would take some time. And forget about all those nice PDF file enhancements that you get with the officially published electronic versions

true, but if someone with a mpc1000bk would send me their mpc and manual, i'd be more than happy to oblige!
