Tips on making r&b bangers

Colloborate with an R&B player....they can guide you to your goal. For me, I start with a bass line and create an 8 bar "Verse" that can be easily doubled to 16 bars....then I;ll lay in the drums. I'll take a copy of that and kill the bass but keep at least the kick from the drums and create another 8 bars starting with that for a chorus....thats the "MPC" way...on the flip side I'll use a guitar and write the whole piece acoustic then recreate it on the MPC with the "Group" sounds.....try a little horns added to your chorus to set it apart.....

another thing that helps is if you write the chorus and build the track around that. with rnb you really have to customize the track to fit the vocals. you could even write the whole song and that will help alot.

Not really.... I've been singing since I was 13, and dealing with different folks in the industry (Most of them lie). I've always been told that the music is in you and thats what I use the emotions that i have inside from all the HEARTBREAK, CRYING, LAUGHTER and the coming and going's of everyday life that i've dealt with. Yeah you have to know some chords, but if you don't feel it then it's souless. I'm telling you JAC listen to the R&B from the mid 90's to 2001, learn some chords, and give your joints to a female to listen to cause R&B is not about shaking your azz, it's about the emotion and female's are very emotional creatures.
