Post your views and questions about the Akai MPC2500

Hi folks. New to the forum/new to the MPC.

I've been making drum sounds with my Voyager and sampling them directly into the 2500. However a problem arises when I try to playback my newly recorded samples. I start to hear a crackling out of the main outs across all programs & sequences. It honestly sounds like a sample rate mismatch. Random pops and clicks. If I save the samples and restart the machine, the pops are gone.

I'm not new to audio. This is not an issue of distorting the samples when recording by having the input be set too high. The only cables connected to the 2500 are two for the main outs and two for the record in.

So, I'm hoping you guys can tell me I'm an idiot and to change this or that setting to fix this problem. Either that, or maybe the machine has issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Moog Voyager??

Is the Voyager still connected to the MPC when you have this problem? If so, disconnect it and see if you have the same problem.

Moog yes.
No dice on disconnecting.

B/C I've only had this thing a few days and don't really know what I'm doing, I'm inclined to think this is a user method error.
This is what I've been doing.
Playing back sequence
turn on input thru - set to analog
Play voyager until I get something I like.
Go into record page - analog in - monitor on
set level. record. (while sequence is playing back)
Stop - go to main page. hit play start and enter the pops and clicks across everything including the factory samples and sequences.
Again, if I save and restart, all is back to normal.

I've tried going back and turning off input thru or changing its input source, disconnecting the input cables to no avail.

Thanks though.

I f u are using any of the effects i noticed that i i used the effects on the 2500 i get clicks and pops from my right output. as soon as i turned my effects of bam no clicks or pops. I can't remember but i think u can use the master effects with no problem but when i used the reverb or delay it happened. just a suggestion.

Thanks for the tip.
Turning the effects off didn't help.

I've found that if I toggle the input on the record page to 'digital' the pops go away. Odd. . .

Have you tried connecting another synth to the MPC to see if you have the same problem?

I've tried my electric bass and gotten the same results so it's not the Moog.

I am going to trouble shoot a little more to really narrow down the issue.

Other than that, I'm really enjoying my MPC experiment.
