I wrote that I paid about $2300 for my first MPC 2000. I said that is was a base model...but after reading your post, I was most likely mistaken.

At any rate I have supported my original statements about the original cost of the MPC2000 in 1997 as well as the original MPC2000 (v1.0) could not use the options, and you are still just spitting the same old I did, I use to, I had bullsh*t with nothing to support it.
Grow up and move on.

Now, you are wrong about the MPC 2000 not supporting options when it was released. The first OS was 1.0. I don't believe you had that OS. Yours most likely shipped with OS 1.03 (or 1.3) and came with the v1.0 manual, and documentation/OS disk about the 1.03/1.3 OS upgrade. This OS upgrade came out immediately before/just after MPC 2000 was shipping world wide.

Actually, OS 1.0 supported the 8 output board but not the effects board, flash rom board, or the SMPTE chip.

No, I can not find a Musicians Friend Catalog that dates back to 1997. Trying to debate this nonsense, had me contacting my first eBay customer to find out what was installed in the MPC I sold him  I was known as jrome-king-of-misawa back then.

You found the right documents/supporting evidence but you couldn't even read them in all the excitement

The MPC2000 was never more powerful than the 3000 and Akai never tried to fool or insult peoples intelligence (unlike what you constantly do).

The 2000 as is more powerful than the 3000. Faster..more memory....better effects....more extensive sample editing...among other things...

Jahrome,
try as you may you will not slant this and throw the facts.

Aliengroover made a statement, I supported it and you tried to argue that we were wrong.
I have supported the statements to show that you were wrong yet you still back pedal????

Can't even make sense to someone like you to deny that you called us liars when we were telling the truth.
And even in you new attempts to back pedal you are just making yourself more and more suspect.
You now have just told me that my MPC2000 didn't have v1.0.
That's just insane.
For the life of me I can't figure you out dude

You were wrong that's plain and simple, anyone who has viewed this nows that.
Now you are just making yourself look even worse.

Punt while you can.
Buzzzzzzzzzzzzz
That's the 2 minute warning

In other words this post got jacked a long time ago give it back to it's original purpose.

I admitted that I was mistaken about which model I purchased. Since most places were not selling them for $1250 (which is still hard to believe when they were new in 1997) I didn't believe you guys. You could have purchased them for $1250 but most retailers would not be selling them at that price. I know what I paid for my MPC.

Now in your attempt to prove me wrong with other statements I made, you errored yourself (or lied). Since you took the the time to dig up what was supported with the early OS, you clearly knew what options were supported...but you still post that it didn't support none of the options, which was not the truth. Can't admit that you were wrong or made an error  The documentation that you found clearly states that the 8 output board was supported.

You obviously have never used them both. Memory has nothing to do with how powerful they are. You remind me of my co-workers that purchased their first PCs. "Jerome, my computer is so powerful and state of the art. It has a 200 gig hard drive and 512MB of memory"

I am not in the mood to list everything the 2000 has that the 3000 doesn't.....there are plenty of threads with this info. But in general, the MPC 2000 is faster, has better effects (optional), and more sample editing functions......but, I would/have choosen a 3000 over a 2000 in spite of these facts.

Damn.....not you again. You don't have to use an MPC there are plenty of groove boxes..ASRs...RS7000s...machine drums....SP 808s.....or what ever out there that you can use. Get over it. Your MPC suks (for your needs) and you are mad at the world.

Its only a machine.........

ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!

MPC60 only has 750KB memory, expandable to 1.5MB.

MPC2000 and 3000 expand up to 32MB

MPC60 is 12bit/low sampling rate, lofi sound

MPC2000 and 3000 are 16bit/44.1KHz, hifi sound

MPC60 and 3000 have 2 MIDI In and 4 MIDI out

MPC2000 has 2 MIDI In and 2 MIDI out

MPC60 and 3000 have built in SMPTE-pulse96-FSK24-1/4 click sync

MPC2000 has SMPTE as an option

MPC3000 has built in extra 8 outputs and digital in

MPC2000 has optional extra outputs and digital in/out

MPC60 and 3000 have good strong build quality/strength

MPC2000 has poorer build quality/strength

MPC60 and 3000 are all older styled text based screens

MPC2000 has more modern graphic waveform display/editing/menus

MPC2000 has optional onboard effects, 60 and 3000 don't

MPC2000 has track mute screen, 60 and 3000 don't

MPC3000 has optional VGA display output

MPC60 and 3000 have 2 footswitch inputs,

MPC2000 needs MIDI footswitch

MPC60 and 3000 sequencers may have different 'feel' with swing etc. to 2000 (not sure though) truth here

MPC60 and 3000 has 'echo' effects send/return

MPC3000 has s3000 sampling engine/filters

MPC2000 has s2000 sampling engine/filters

MPC60 has (?, maybe s900) sampling engine/(filters?)

MPC2000 and 3000 have SCSI as standard

MPC60 has SCSI as a third-party option

The MPC2000 has a lot more features than the MPC60 or MPC3000. The MPC3000 is sort of half way between the MPC60 and MPC2000, it has the expanded memory of the MPC2000, with the older style screens and features of the MPC60. It all depends on what features you consider important in your MPC. The 60 is very limited memory wise, so may be better suited to creating beats from single hits, rather than using full bar loops like some do with the 2000. The 60 has the 12bit lofi sound that some prefer over the 3000/2000 16bit CD quality sound. If you want more than two MIDI outs you may prefer the MPC60 or 3000. If you simply want the 'old school' beats feel then you would prefer the MPC60 or 3000.

I have used both, so dont talk down to me. My beats will run circles around yours. Ironic thing is, I bought my MPC from you :)

If you look at my quote, I quoted you on ONLY the memory. I know the difference in features, I've used both, but the only incorrect thing you said was about the MEMORY of both being different, which is simply not true. They both have a max memory of 32 MB. Thats what I quoted, thats what I refuted, and thats what you were wrong about. Everything else you said was spot on.

Talk down to you.....with your comments, you don't deserve a response

But for real though .....my comments about memory wasn't just refering to the 32 MB of RAM.

What I stated about the memory was misleading since I didn't explain fully what I meant. The 3000 can be fitted with 32MB of memory. Akai doesn't recommend this but Roger Linn said it would be fine..it works, and many have done so with no problems. However, the 3000 has limitations with this memory. If you create a song that uses the full 32 MBs of memory, you will not be able to save the entire song because the 3000 has a limit of 30 MB per disk partition. Anything smaller than that will work just find on the 3000. The MPC 2000 has no such limits. Also, the MPC 2000 can hold more notes per sequence than the 3000...25,000 more notes..although you may never need it.

DANG IT! I WILL BE THE FIRST TO SAY. I DON'T GIVE A FVCK IF I CAN LOAD MY PGM, SEQ, SND, ETC.. ON THE MPC2500 I'M STILL GONE COP IT DUE TO THE FACT AKAI MAKES NO MISTAKE. WE DEALING WITH A BILLION DALLOR BIZNESS IT'S ALL MONEY, AND WHAT I MEAN BY THAT IS WHEN THEY FIRST PUT THE MPC2500 INTO PRODUCTION TO BE MADE THEY KNEW THIS BEFORE THE FIRST ONE WAS EVEN SOLD. IT'S A WAY TO MAKE MONEY AND KEEP OTHER COMING BACK FOR MORE. YOU CAN'T KNOCK EM' COMING MAN. THEY DIDN'T LET US DOWN ALL THESE MANY YEARS WHAT MAKE YOU THINK THEY GOING TO LET THE WORLD DOWN NOW. IT AIN'T ONLY US ON THIS FORUM IT'S THE ENTIRE WORLD. SO LOOK AT IT LIKE THIS BE THANKFUL THEY COULD HAVE GOT BOUGHT OUT TO SOME OTHER COMPANY LIKE ALESIS, ROLAND, KORG ETC, ETC. TO TO SAY THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN BUT WHAT IF THEN THAT A EVEN WORST SITUATION YOU KNOW? SO GIVE IT TIME MAN THE COMPANT IS JUST A LITTLE ABOVE OUR HEAD WHEN IT'S TIME TO MAKE MONEY. THE AVERAGE PRODUCER AIN'T THINKING: WHEN I GET THIS MPC2500 IT'S GOING TO BE A PROBLEM: NO! THEY THINKING ABOUT WHAT NEW HEAT THEY ABOUT TO COOK UP. PEACE AND KEEP THA P.U.S.H.= PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPEN 8) REAL TALK " MARCO DANE 79 "
