I run my pro tools LE on my powerbook G4 and it works just fine, without even a firewire 7200 rpm hard drive and only 512 ram.... I definitely need more ram and the external firewire hard drive soon, but it runs perfect if I dont' OD on the plug in's. The G4 that's out now has more power and a faster speed than the G4 that came out four years ago obviously...
sorry bro i had a dual 1.25 g4 and it was barely faster than my pentium III 600 mhz. the relevancy is this why would u pay top dollar for old architecture? yeah they are a little faster than years past, but if the g4 is so great then why do we see a g5 and in a few weeks the intel based machines. a g4 powerbook is good if it is $800 but with what they want for it why bother. the industry is moving towards dualcores and 64 bit processors and u r telling duke to buy a ancient technology in computer years. that is mad suspect. any computer can play and record 32 tracks it's when u start to add fx and instruments that u wil run into problems. a g4 aint doing it unless u have protools hd with 3 accel cards, which costs a little more than $450
