time stretching and detecting temp

That's exactly what's happening. Even in the manual it says if you want it to detect the tempo you have to go into trim mode and loop up 1 bar of the sample. If you loop up 2 bars just divide the number by 2. It's easier then re-looping your sample.

i guess so. i trim my sample so its looping on time, then press "detect tempo" and change to whatever bpm i want, 90 for example. then when i go to sequence, everything fits to 90bpm. i don't think it matters how many bars you use to detect tempo, i've looped 1,2, and 4 bars so farwith successful bpm detect. flawless thus far. if the bpms it detects seems unreasonably high, which has happened to me a couple of times, just divide it by two and you should be good. i guess that has to do with the number of bars you loop? other than that, i'd say just make your loops as percise as possible, not sure how tempermental it is. peace.

edit: i see ONE just mentioned some of that. oh well.

I can tap out my tempos pretty well. And my loops are cut perfectly in 2-4 bars usually. And I cannot get the detect tempo function to work correctly. Are we doing something wrong or could there be a problem with this?

Ok I figured it out. You can only detect tempo for 1 bar at 4/4. I was trying to detect 2 bars and it was all messed up. You can timestretch more than one bar though, just figure out the tempo with tap-tempo.

nope. you can detect tempo of more than one bar at a time.

edit: and you're right, you can timestretch more than one bar too, but you don;t have to tap the tempo. you can detect it just like you can one bar.

the detect tempo feature has been buggy since i used versions 1.99 and 2.0 and it's still kinda buggy with 2.1. akai has been notified of this since 1.99 although the manual does state something about detect tempo, akai is working on correcting that issue.

didn't even know there was a "Detect Tempo" ? News to me. I'll have to have a nose around for this feature tomorrow.
