OS 2.1 Pains - Please read first post.

The note repeat set Timing is cool when you keep your finger on the Note repeat and can switch it up but it sounds hella different than when I use to use note repeat in OS 1.07

Just turn on ya mpc , load up a kick on pad1 , set the attack to 50 and decay to 100.

(seems like just setting the decay higher then 50 doesn't work anymore, my mpc is haunted )

For the record I got that DIRECTORY ERROR one time also...

I never got it with the old os.

yeah i've been gettin this a bit, seems to happen when i save entire memory to an already saved project, ovewriting the files.
also some files are disapearing or moving around to somewhere i diddn't save them.
anyone else notice this? could be a problem with my disk, was working fine in 1.07 though.

i don't know if it's a bug or a feature but when i slice a sample and move across the slices to hear them, whichever slice i leave it on when i press cancel is where the loop start is set when i get back to the original sample!?

when i'm using input thru with the digital out from my soundcard, seems like it can affect the sample rate on the mpc or something.opening or closing different programs on the pc sometimes makes the samples playing back from the mpc pitch up or down.

still happy to have the os though, just being extra careful with my files.
could be just my hard disk, but i'd advise anyone with a harddrive to keep a check on their files and backup.

well while i'm here, i've noticed a couple of times when i was adjusting the start point w/ qlink in trim mode the end point also moves. i don't remember it happening while adjusting the end point and its no big deal either way i just readjusted the end point.

When you use the pitch modulation on a sample, then record the sample on a track, and then use track volume on the track that you just recorded, it seems that the track volume affects on the pitch of the sample..
This aint no big problem, but just noticed it and decided to post it here. Still stoked about the OS thou

sorry, if i wasn't clear. i was talking about my hard disk
i read the article, and although my knowledge of computer hardware is slim, i understand that they could be handling files in the same way?
do you think that the usb could be messing with the hard disk as well?
not sure what i can do if that's the case. i've been really carefull when disconnecting and haven't shut of the mpc while it's writing to disk.
do you have any extra advice you can give?
i can try not moving files through the computer but i need to connect it to transfer stuff sometimes. maybe i'll try reformatting and not hooking it up for a few days to see if it still happens.

Hmm... not sure.. I don't have a hard drive in my mpc yet. I think you might be having a different problem, the article was about flash cards and the way they handle data. Not sure that could be applied to a hard drive. Also, about transferring files to and from the flash card... I don't think the article meant not to do it, I just think that it meant when moving files around on the card excessively and/or renaming a lot can cause corruption.

About your hard disk: I think I saw someone say that you should re-format the disk after you install os 2.1... maybe give that a try?

ok thanks, just it said in that article about hard drives and file allocation and i thought it could be the same thing.
i did re-format after installing os2.01 sometime after that is when i started having problems

There are changes in the way 2.1 defaults a program as opposed to 1.07. The default volume in 2.1 is 100, while in 1.07 it is 70. You might have to change the sample volume in all of your old programs.

The thing is that im unsure if i want to correct all my programs so that they sounded like they did yet. Maybe AKAI will fix it and the all my PGMs are changet but by me.

the New OS versus the beta version I had, I notice a alot of little things.
going through my normal routine with the mpc it seems that using the chop feature the mpc becomes a bit sensitive. when i select a region using the wheel as well as selecting starting and ending points using the cursor keys as well as using the function keys the mpc plays the wav file. or just that region. this doesn't happen frequently but hey it hasn't been out that long either so a couple times here and there may seem a bit excessive. but over all i'm in the process of just seeking out its potential and finding out whether or not the 1K can seriously handle this upgrade. in the mean time while my lil red and blue buddy soaks up this transfusion I'm using the Motif and 2kxl to keep this thing moving.

I noticed that all of my beats that I made pre-OS 2.1 have lost sound quality!! I had to reinstall the 1.07 so I can record everything in Pro Tools 1st. The one beat that I made with the new os sounds good but I couldn't figure out what happened to the other beats......very frustrating. .so I will drop all the other beats into ptools and then convert to the new os...unless someone can tell me how to fix this problem........
