Every single one of you is wrong.  You people probably think he was in a real airplane too.  I work a lot doing sound on film sets.  There is always an art department for commercials, and they have these things called 'Props' that they actually build, just like they built the set to look like the inside of a plane.  It was nothing more than a prop made to look like an MPC.  See, they wouldnt use a real product from Akai or whoever else because it's a commercial for Coors, not Akai.  Some times multiple companys will advertise two different products collaboratively  in one commercial, (ie:MTV & Virgin Mobil) but not many companies want to collaborate with alcohol or tobacco advertisments. Again lets all say it again slowly P-R-O-P.  :D

Not to challenge you people's intelligence(LoL)but that is a MPC-2000Xl Special Edition. That commerical has been on for d*** near a year(they just started re-airing it). If you didn't know that, then please seek professional counseling(LmaO,j/k)).

a prop , thats a good one man. You must have been thinking about that one for awhile , smart guy. You can use a product on any commercial as long as you have the logos and names blurred out. Its a **** MPC2000XL people get the point!

["You can use a product on any commercial as long as you have the logos and names blurred out."]

True,   jaydolla (2 posts), but there still may be conflict of interest and legal issues if they used a machine that was obviously an MPC 2000xl.  I dont claim to know for sure, but if they can afford to build the inside of a plane for a one day shoot (probably $200,000 range just for the set) dont you think they can afford to make an MPC looking prop.  The fact that so many MPC users couldnt tell what it was should be a big clue.  It sure didnt look like anything I've seen on the market.

it doesnt matter really, everybody know that Dre uses the mpc3000 to make all his beats.  this great peace of equipment is responsible for nearly all of his hits. One :D

umm ok, they DID NOT BUILD THE PLANE SET SPECIAL.
THERE IS THIS PLACE IN la CALLED UNIVERSAL STUDIOS THE NAME IS SELF EXPLANATORY.
the interior of an airplane (small medium and jumbo jet) are BASIC sets, that i'm sure a million studios have set up already, ####, most film schools have one too. (the good ones anyway)
the things is an mpc, DRE DID NOT BRING HIS OWN MPC TO THE SHOOT OR HAVE HIS AGENT ARGUE ABOUT WHICH MPC TO USE, THE PEOPLE MAKING THE COMMERCIAL DECIDE THAt, and the entire concept, all dre could probbaly say is "yes i'll do it" or "no I wont" he likely had no input on the commercial beyond that, U think angie martinez wrote her "obey your thirst" lyrics from the 5 deadly women ad 3 yrs ago? NO, the ad agency had someone do it, thats why WE HAVE AD AGENCIES, that is what they do.
DRE PROBABLY SAID "I USE AN MPC TO MAKE MY MUSIC" and they went out and bought the coolest looking one, that being the grey/black 2000le, no orders from japan or that ish, just the cool looking easy to get (for a commercial anyway), and thats that, you think he packed his gear and brought it out? no, he just showed up, put on the clothes they told him to wear and did the commercial.
hey it aint even plugged it yet I hear a beat? its a COMMERCIAL. In all tony touch's video's hes on a vestax 06, I never seen him use and 06 b4 and i seen him more then 3 times live, why did he change? cuz he's an artist, only the truly wacko will demand that they get the same gear they use (especially when the mpc 3000 is no longer made and costs mad $$$, cant be gotten for free by saying to akai, "we wanna use your gear in our commercial with dr dre.")
so my point is its a commercial, the set was likely already built and rented for the day, the clothes dre has on are NOT his, the mpc aint his either.
this simple fact (that the 3000 cannot be bought new, or obtained for free from the maker since it dont make it no more) means they were limited to what akai US could give them, of all the stuff they currently have avail. in the us (and when they made the commerical the 2000xl le's were new werent they?) the 2000xl le was the coolest looking one and thats the one they used.
mt frat bro works doing commercials, and they get to keep the free stuff they use in the commercials when they are done, clothes, gear etc. everything is provided by the agency that is making the ad.
period. sure an artists can demand they use his gear and he can wear his own stuff but Dre aint on that level (true) that level is like madonna, and jlo type heads, crossover megastars. while dre is a hip hop megastar he is basically just another star, no more famous then any other famous rapper, and they could have just paid timbaland, or pharell for the same spot and got the same result, all they wantred was a recognizable hip-hop producer, #### peter rock couldve done it.

Byjaydolla513 Sat Jan 04, 2003 1:51 am
Nicely stated , went a little further than needed i.e. the clothes point , but it still does the job. That thing about it being built as a prop was ####in hilliarous. You people need to clear the air out your head , its a MPC2000XL plain and simple.

OK, so whats your point. You go on and on about ad agencies  and celebrities, but you dont know for sure what it is either.  Do you work in the film industry?  I do. And I've worked on a commercial in NYC where they built an plane interior set.  It took them 2 days to build.  One day to shoot. And one day to break it down.

Yes, actually, sets are built and taken down daily.  Especially here in NYC where I work.  The seats and interior bulkhead are rented from prop houses.  I'm not saying that I'm 100% right about that machine, but why is it so hard for you people to believe that it's a specially made prop?  It does NOT look like anything on the market.

Byjaydolla513 Sat Jan 04, 2003 4:13 am
You must be blind because i seen pads (on the rightside like the 2000 and not the leftside like the 3000) with a flipped up screen on it. You must not know what an mpc looks like then bud!

By earthmorphosis Sat Jan 04, 2003 5:44 am
Have you ever opened up an MPC? If you have then you know that you can remove the pads.  They are a single sheet of rubber with square pads.  You can make something look like anything (a grey or black box with 16 pads and an LCD)....It's called the 'magic' of film.  And companies spend big bucks to make it happen.  Especially if it will help them avoid legal troubles.  If you dont know, then go ahead an keep believing what you want.  This is a stupid descussion.  I work in film, and know what I'm talking about.  How much time do you spend on film sets?  Take another look at the ad.  I think your just borred and "You want to be startin somethin...."
