the pwr supply does generate quite some heat but i have taken it out as i wanted to see how much heat it generated becase i wanted to run the 1K with a external pwr supply ( i live in a hot place so i experimented ) and i found that there was still alot of heat coming from the display so much that it wasnt worth running it with a external pwr supply

you sure it was the display itself? i really don't think that an LCD backlit with LEDs will produce that much heat. i'd assume there's some kind of chip directly behind it, or else the hot air flows up into the screen aperture and this is what is making it so warm.

i ve only turned mine off a few times in a few years, same wit the 2000.

One time my lil' sister was playing around and was turning the On/Off switch like 10 times in 10 seconds. I thought the shIt would be broken but I guess there was no short and it survived.
She never touched the MP again!

i think we're not giving the build enough credit. the mpc1000 really isn't as fragile as many thought.

that having been said, i must say that i don't practice what i preach - i take such good care of this thing that my girlfriend is jealous.
