MPC 1k and Mpd16

im wounderin if i get a mpd16 and hook it to the mpc 1000 will the pads work the same way as the 1000's , i mean like how you press the numders and letter and stuff like that would it work on the mpd16 like that ?

the mpd16 is just a midi controller. it is not meant to replace the features of the 1000. meaning, you will only have midi data access. so it will not work in the way you are asking.

i have an mpd hooked up and it's so rediculously killer, i love that thing. the pads are tremendous.

akai did the right thing with the mpd pads, but allowed a retarded monkey to design the mpc1000 pads. however, if i find a way to improve on the mpd pads, i'll get drunk and then tell you all - only to get clowned for it, i'm sure

peezie - hah i admitted it when i tried it, definitely. i saw em for 99 bucks on zzounds and had to grab one so i can control 32 sounds simultaneously for my live set. i was really impressed. it's a must have for an mpc1000 user, i think...

i'll be the first to say that even with modded pads, the 1k pads aren't as good as the mpd pads (perhaps due to size, perhaps because of the individual pad construction - who knows, but then again the mpc1000 is within my price range so i'm not complaining).

i'm using the mpd to do drums (you can bang the HELL out of them) and the mpc to trigger larger loops.

i was messing with a friends 1k and the pads feel 'shallow' compared to normal sized akai pads. having physical contacts right under the pads probably gives the stiff feel and short service life. dunno why akai didnt go with 'sheet under pads' design. putting all the pads and contacts in one sheet probably cost less to produce also.

i imagine so. at this point, even though my velocity is great on the 1k pads as of now, i work with them on full velocity since mainly their function is to trigger samples i want 100 percent loud anyway...

again though i now feel what you were saying about the shallowness. this mpd kicks ass...feels pretty damn durable too.

akai should release 1kxl with traditional pad design. then i would consider buying one

no doubt. oh well though, so it goes. i'm not terribly concerned. i make due one way or another

you havent owned the 1k long enough to know that it won't matter if you use full level or not. defective pads will fail reguardless.

full level works ok, but not if you want the expressiveness of velocity sensitive pads. i program a lot of really specific hi hats and i'd rather tap them then edit the velocity in step edit.

you know wut akai should make a custom design to fix tha pads jus like they have it in the other models so we dont have to buy another system or fix it the way we should . they should make somthin that will solve this problem . right ? cuz its not our fault we breakin em it thier design thats makin it break, so akai should step up there game lol.
