akai did the right thing with the mpd pads, but allowed a retarded monkey to design the mpc1000 pads. however, if i find a way to improve on the mpd pads, i'll get drunk and then tell you all - only to get clowned for it, i'm sure
peezie - hah i admitted it when i tried it, definitely. i saw em for 99 bucks on zzounds and had to grab one so i can control 32 sounds simultaneously for my live set. i was really impressed. it's a must have for an mpc1000 user, i think...
i'll be the first to say that even with modded pads, the 1k pads aren't as good as the mpd pads (perhaps due to size, perhaps because of the individual pad construction - who knows, but then again the mpc1000 is within my price range so i'm not complaining).
i'm using the mpd to do drums (you can bang the HELL out of them) and the mpc to trigger larger loops.
