The sound would't behave like that if it was resampled digitally. Sure, there's artifacts which could have an affect to the sound. But were talking about a whole other shape here..
Frankly I'm not convinced by the 'just makes sense' theory.
Someone should ask Akai about this, maybe I will...
Jesus.. Now this is just straight ignorance.. Have you tried resampling anything?
"Frankly I'm not convinced by the 'just makes sense' theory." Give me a break. you make it sound like i didn't put facts on the table at all.
But go ahead, ask AKAI, they will tell you the same as I already did.
sorry if i offended you, but settle down. i'm just the type of person who needs to see accurate tests or get the official word to be 'convinced'.
i guess people who don't unquestioningly take your opinion as fact are 'ignorant'?
when i have tried to make technical claims on the forum in the past i provided details such as ' i used factory sample x with veloc. set at y and master level at z, then opened the resulting files in sound forge and saw a clear difference'.
Even if there _is_ a problem with levelchange or distortion on resampling, that also doesn't prove it is being done in analog, as someone else mentioned.
as you say, if i really care about this at some point in the future, i will test it myself or ask akai, whichever seems easier.
