i was looking for some techspecs for the mpc but found none.

what kind of CPU makes the mpc 1000 tick?
how fast is is?
is it the same as the 2500 and 4000?
i'd like to know since i notice my mpc almost come to halt when theres more than 16 tracks and 30 voices to process.
the CPU just seem to overload.
is there a servicemanual online somewhere?

whoa, are you serious? i use more than 16 tracks (not sure about voices, but i assume i push it to the limit) and it never slows down on me...

it takes a second to initialize the hd when you scroll to it in save/load...that's why i made mine autoload 8)

highly serious. at one particular time in this pattern i use almost all resources at the exact same messure and it just gets too much.
i'm gonna work around by resample but it just feels better to blame the old SH7727... wonder what clockfrequency is used with the one in the MPC.
i really could use som extra CPUpower and i would benefit from the extra heat aswell since king Bore won't let go of the winter here. might keep the polarbears away to

Check the link in Mr modnaR´s post. All the specs you need.

lol, i believe it's 333MHz, but that's from someone off these forums, so it could be speculation! i doubt it's easily over-clockable, unless you have the time to become an expert, which you may well have, given that all you have to look at is snow and polar bears. :P

ahh, ok, that's embarrassing! correct figure: 100/160MHz

if we're running @ 100 Mhz there might be hope for a faster CPU

possibly, but you don't know for sure what other systems are tied into the CPU's clock, and they might not be able to handle the higher clock speed.

Check the image, the processor is marked 160. That might indicate it´s speed, though it could mean something else.

I experienced a problem this w/e that looked a lot like processor overload (although it could have been something totally different). I had quite a busy sequence using not only drum hits but a chromatic program that was using the Envelopes, Filters and LFO's full tilt. When I went to resample this in Record mode, as soon I hit Play the loop played like it had a tempo ramp - the timing was all over the show. Funny effect but not very useful ;-) The resulting sample from re-sampling was a disaster too. It was a short section of the audio with the wobbly timing described and then a really loud glitch where I guess the MPC's brain was just overloaded.

I wish I still had the sequence/program to drop to audio for your listening pleasure but I used the Purge function shortly afterwards and the MPC froze up (edit: thanks to ryssen I now know it didn't freeze up it was just having a long think ;-))

Pen.
