Just got new mpc1000, already have bad pads

Ordered one from an online shop, supposedly new. Notice a small scratch in the paint near the screw thats located right behind the word "Center" at the top of unit. Then I go to the pad setup and see that 3 of my pads only go to about 70 velocity.

Has anyone else got a new unit with this problem? Is there just defects in the pads straight from factory or did maybe I get a used unit here?

I don't really want to send back as I see there is a fix for it on here but still kinda pissed.

I did notice if I use note repeat then I can get up 127 for that pad.

return it, but read through the pad replacement option on vst. those pads are better quality, but they'll eventually break too.

Some of my pads were REALLY stiff when i first got them. Try just upping the sensitivity, and playing hard on em for a bit and they should wear in.

Exactly I had to break in my cold hard stiff pads in too (no homo)

thanks for the replies. I find it strange that if I use note repeat and then apply varying pressure to the pad I can go through basically the whole range of velocity. I also notice the level meter on the pad setup goes all the way to the top. Yet it doesnt seem like that coincides with 127.

I really wanted a black 1000 anyways so I might just hold onto this one for a couple of more weeks until they are available and then send back. Samash online has a 45 day return policy. Altho at same time I plan to callthem to tell them about the scratch, so hopefulyl they still let me hold onto it for a while before sending back.

so for the people who said to break the pads in, did you have the same problem? I have upped the sensitivity all the way by the way.

Ok a little update here. Took the advice of the people that said to break them in. I basically pressed down and held pressure on the pads for an extended period of time about as hard as I could without breaking the thing. Now I've been able to get 127 level altho by tapping I still have to hit them a bit harder than the other pads. But if this is any sign then after some more normal use they should break in ok.

Still a bit curious as to why the scratch is there but I dont want any down time sending this back as I've got a live show coming up and cant really be apart from it for long. At least now I feel a lot better about keeping it.

Took the advice of the people that said to break them in.

DO NOT TAKE THIS ADVICE. the pads don't need "breaking in." i've been inside them. "Breaking them in" literally breaks them. there's nothing to soften or anything in there.

DONT TRY TO BREAK IN YOUR PADS. worst advice ever.

nah u shouldnt have a problem

u made me check my pads and they dont responed correctly but this is a Demo Unit my Mpc1000 wont be in untile April 14th

the pad issue is the only thing thats making me want to get a MPC2000XL because i dont think the mpc1000 pads will last the test of time.

And with any other Mpc when ur pads where out u can buy new ones for 16 bucks.
