Someone wants to trade...

My 1000 for the 2000 xl Maxed out.

I don't have the money to get the 2500 right now. But i really need the 8 outs and want some bigger pads. I'm definitly getting the 2500 in the future. But now this guy stepped up and wants to trade for a 2000 xl in good state with 32 mb, scsi hd, cf card reader, 8 outs and fxcard.
I thought maybe it's a good deal till i have the money for the 2500...

I ain't saying i'll do it!! I just wanna know what exactly i loose when i do it. What´s different in the os etc.

I´ve read almost every post regarding mpc 1000 vs 2000 xl, but i can´t seem to find a good answer. Somebody explain pleaz!

ive never tried the 1000 but the XL is dope...

- RAM: 1k has 128mb, 2kxl has 32mb
- effects are practically the same, 2kxl has 4 busses i think?
- No scsi on 1k
- 6 outs on 1k , 10 on 2kxl
- pratically the same dsp/trim functions

If you can´t find the differences while reading up on this forum and the specs of the two I think it seems that you´re not deep enough into the MPC to miss the 1000 features you lose or appreciate the few extra skills the 2000 XL might have.
In that case it is very true that all you need is bigger pads and 8 individual outs and I don´t see the hesitation.

2XL - less ram, less portability, more everything else.

If you are experienced efficient with optimising your samples, and don't need to carry it around, you will get more studio flexibility / options with the 2XL.

And i know the mpc 1000 inside out for ur information, why are peeps always assuming everyone who posts is a newbie?

I'm not, i just wanted to hear some oppinions... it's not a little decision!

If you are familiar with your 1000 and know the terminology it´s rather easy to compare the two models by checking the specs and reading the manual of the 2000XL. Only you know what you use in the 1000 and what functions are essential to be on the 2000XL, it´s an easy comparison if you just can interpret the specs, which one can if one have picked up the terminology and experience on samplers and sequencers.

Relax and keep the MPC1K until you're able to buy the MPC2.5K. The pads on my XL were better and the tilt screen; other than that the 1K beats it hands down in workflow, OS, processing speed, etc, in my opinion. Pound for pound, it's the best MPC in a long time (fully maxed.)

Ignoring the physical differences, the 2.5K OS is more like the 1K than the XL too. Also, the 1K is more likely to see new OS updates now than the XL (although this may not be such an issue for those that think the latter is already perfect.)

Ok i agree, but i've read the manuals. And trust me i think in the 8 years gaining experience making beats, i KNOW about sequensers, samples etc.

I just want to know some info about for example the speed of the processors, the time it takes to load samples with a cf in the 2000 xl compared to the 1000 etc.

These are things i can't seem to find easily, that's why i ask ur oppinion.

the 2xl, 4k and 3ks are turtles compared to the 1k.

you cant have a 100gb hd in the 2xl

If someone wants to swap a maxed XL for the 1k they must think the 1k's better

I'd keep it and save for a 2500 rather than go XL. Things like not being able to play more than 4 programs in a sequence simultaneously put me off the XL. And a slower workflow, less RAM, no USB etc all turn me off it, even though it's obviously a capable machine

2000xl is good, but tired. let it rest, stick to the 1000.
