Harddrive flipping out

My hdd is going a little insane. Some wav files has gone corrupt and and it has created a mystery folder which i cant delete. This strange folder contains files that where made in 1975.

when i try to delete this folder the mpc crashes.

man, this new mpc file system feels extremely unstable.

i think i will have to backup my 10 gb of data(!) and format the drive... or have you dudes got a better idea?

any one know why its doing this?

EDIT: I think these problems might occur because of the mpc cant handle overwriting files to much (saving entire memory). It seems as it messes up the HDD.. Dont know if the overwrite problems has got anything to do with the "new folder bug" thou..

yo dude i had the same ish, basicly that folder your talking about, try to access it with your computer, and you will find out that folder is filled with gibberish files and bigger than your hardrives capacity, i had a folder and it said it was 1.2 TBytes, thats 1000 GIGS..

So this is what you do, copy each folder on your hardrive to your computer. I say this because if any files come up "unable to copy" u'll know which folder it is in.

Now once you have copied all your Data minus that folder from 1975, format your hardrive on your MPC with the UTILI on the MPC. Then put everything back and you shoudl avoid that

was the 1k designed before the millenium? if so, could this be the millenium bug?

yeah, I know its insane... but its gonna take so long to copy all that data.. ive got over 10 gigs... crap...

have you gotten the same problem since you re-formatted the drive?

im never creating a new folder on the1k again, except from my computer..

im gonna try to search the hdd with some windows apps to see if its broken anywhere..

The disc-defragmenter app told me that the drive contains errors or something and told me to "run chkdsk /e."

back up freeeequently. use the hard drive as a cf card, essentially.

i find that problems most often result in folders where you're saving over stuff again and again. i've never had a problem with a folder in which i store a pgm and its respective samples...

i think that the next os update will fix this. it'll come soon because the 2500 has the exact same problems with hard drive stuff since the softwares are almost clones.

dude i had 35 gigs, i havnt had the problem ever since.

it also has Millions on files, and its in japanese too huh

I have a corrupt folder that I cant delete (which is empty btw)... but that 1975 sh!t you got is too fukin weird!

nym, could you go over again how you save your files?

I'm gonna start saving my songs to my CF card and have my samples on the HDD.. do you think that the cf is more stable?

Solah, how long did it take for you to backup 35 gigs? Did you use the mpc connection or did you remove the HDD and put it in a usb 2.0 cabinet? Im worried that the pins will break if I remove and insert the HDD to much.

By the way, any one knows what happens if I format the HDD in FAT32 in windows? I thought it might be more stable?

not sure the mpc will recognise it unless it's formatted in the mpc.

Just looked in my internal memory and it has "apparently" got a file that is 999.9 mb large. The file name is not in letters but it looks just like a barcode made of dots.

this is scary man.

take out that hard drive it is **** up
