Harddrive flipping out

yea dude, follow what i said, mine hasnt bugged out ever since, my folder that was cauing the illegal blabber screen error was from the year 3005, and it was 1.2 TB's in size thats 1000 GIGS, and my harddrive was only 40 gigs. Just copy everything one by one, and then leave the folder from 1975 still on the harddrive and format it and dump your 10 gigs in there. And you should be fine....

the hd is like an unneccessary luxury that could cause you to lose all of your work.

i had some things like this happen b4.
had the wierd undeletable folder one time. also, i saved a beat one day and the files were gone later on. i also saved some loops i sampled into a directory and a couple of days later they were gone. had a couple of corrupted files as well.

did you move a lot of files and folders around in usb mode?

i think it has something to do with that, rearranging your files while in usb mode, i was doing a lot of moving files/folders and stuff to get the files setup how i wanted.

since i reformatted my drive i have been too scared to connect the usb as i haven't had a single problem for months now, maybe to connect for some file transfer or backup wouldn't be a problem, but right now i'm not gonna take the risk and the last thing i want to do now is reformat.

everytime i save, i save a copy on the flash card as well and put that on the pc.

i might sound dumb for saying all that but i really believe this is the case.
i think using the pc to reorganise your files/folders is a bad idea.

this happenned to me too. i just renamed the folder a bad word and dont mess with it......... watever.... a little trick for those that want to mess with my mpc, they oren that thinking it's got cool stuff in it and boom!!!!!!! japenese for them to see!!! but wait everythings currupted!!!! have to turn it off and back on and lose all there precious work!!!!! hahaha

My HDD is completely new... I think the main problem is saving and overwriting... It messes up the hdd's file system.

All the broken files and strange stuff has been happening in the folders where I have overwritten alot lately...

Im going to have my sounds on the hd and the beats on my cf card and backup as often as I can... I might even start to erase every file in my project folders one by one before saving. Never Overwrite and Never create a new folder in the mpc, to scary for me, I will only create folders in windows.....

Any one think that the overwrite problems and the new folder bug is related in some way? I mean caused by each other...?

yeah it could be, i mean, i know that in windows, when you delete something, it's not actually deleted, it's just marked for overwriting. if the mpc were to act in the same way, then yes they could be connected i guess.
