not quite what i meant, though i can see why you thought that, i didn't word myself very well. watching a dvd or reading an ebook tutorial is a great help in producing music with the mpc. the trouble is all of what is in those tutorials can be discovered on your own given time. no disrespect to tutor for his fantastic products, but to me, people are always looking for a quicker way to do something, which is fine, but there are far more benefits in struggling through on your own. so, in conclusion, i didn't say tutor's ebooks and dvds are crap, i didn't say if you buy them you're crap and shouldn't be a producer, i merely said (or tried to say) that it would be beneficial to your production career and/or life to persevere with learning to use the mpc or any piece of equipment yourself and not to try and take short cuts. no one is saying it won't be difficult, but look at it this way: cavemen would be still in their caves eating bats if they themselves didn't have a go at going outside and catching a buffalo/walk to the local McDonald's!
Disclaimer: the caveman metaphor was not historically correct.
