thanks for the comments. maaaaad simple song on my part - i think spesh worked longer and harder on his final product than i did mine. i was ranging from sample to sample - all i knew was that i enjoyed that initial kickless first bar of every 2. the chords just came later.
all in all my beat is modelled after Ray Bradbury's short story "Skeleton" which i have on tape. hence the samples. it's simple, not a lot of breakups and downs. i would classify the song as a beat, not an instrumental. this means someone should sing/rap over it.
so i'd like to ask emcees what they think about the beat from that standpoint.
spesh - this is a good beat and the breakdown works well. question - do you track your beats out or is it hot from the sampler? maybe it's the quality of the mp3 on your myspace, but something about the song sounds murky. the drums, i think. it very well could be the compression of the mp3.
good work though, definitely. i like it.
