Yes it was on open stereo mics so we had varied attack from the hammers thats why there are more samples than actual keys on a grand piano.

Well the mpc is a sampler and in the good ol days you had to sample pianos and chop them up to get good notes back in the day no cpu and no vsti's so thats what i stick to. Roots baby stick to ya roots.

Last time i checked, the MPC was renowned for its groove, ease of use and rock solid sequencer. The sampler's an added bonus in my eyes and more than gets the job done.
I still think properly sampled pianos will sound dynamicaly better than free VSTs too, you need to spend money to get quality in the virtual world
