I have both.
They are totally different machines.
One is not better than the other.
I find the MPC2500 more like a traditional MPC.
It has the feel and sound of the 2000 and 3000.
The 4000 has a keymap sampler and is more of an S6000 or Z8 sampler.
The 4000 screen is bigger but has a lot of stuff on it that makes it harder to navigate quickly. I can work a lot faster on the MPC2500. The cleaner sound and higher resolution sequencer makes it not sound as much like an "MPC" to me. The 2500 is better for making beats on. The 4000 is better when you want to play a full piano sample.
