I had a 2kxl for a min about a year and a half ago then sold it but I'm about get another one MAYBE.
But I'm trying to find out the method for making a whole beat with just the MPC and Samples (SOUNDS NOT RECORDS) with the limit of 4 programs?
I'm talkin Drum beat, synth, piano, organ, bass, etc.... I don;t plan on using a whole bunch of keyboard sounds but the theory I have now limits it to only 2 programs left after drum beat (1 program) and Bassline (1 program), so then I only have 2 programs left to stretch a sound out to play a piano or synth on. I've pretty much figured so far that i have to basically make custom Kits (programs) for a beat (seq) everytime so i won't be limited to just the sounds in ready made programs i have. just pick and choose samples and kit it up right then. and I'm thinking for the keyboard sounds maybe you could keep a kit open to stretch it out, play whatever keys you need then purge (i've never used that function) the program of all the samples you didn't use which would bassically be the "keys" you didn't use and somehow do it again with another sound without erasing the samples of the sound you just did. So basically u'd build up a program of say 5 instruments but they would only each have the few samples you used to make whatever melody or chord and thats it. Maybe I'm Crazy and wrong I'm doing this all off what I remember about the 2KXL and what I'm researching. I can't afford a MPC4000 so I'm trying to see if I can get a 2kXL to do some of the major things I need it to do.
