just ordered new pads........

yo to those who replaced there own pads i gotta question is there a specific solder i need or will any type do?????????

common resin-core solder from radio shack or similar will do.. be careful with the heat time.. you dont want to loosten up the glue inside.. the heat will travel fast through the traces.. just be sure your iron is HOT and solder quickly and efficiently..pre "tin" the pads.. alternate pads.. ex: solder one trace on one pad..then move on to another and comback to the first after it has cooled a few mins..

Yea I'm going to VST on Wednesday to have all my pads replaced....

why did they die or somthing^

No but they're gettin bad again, and I've already fixd them once..But this time I'm going to drop some money on them..From what Nick said at VST that these pads are most likely from a different manufacturer..Hence why they were on back order for long..That or just alot of ppl had f@#ked up pads..Either way I'm gettin them all fixed..

Just get an MPC 500 and be done with fixing pads..forever...

I doubt the 500's pads will be much of improvement...

Well, would it disappoint you to know that the MPC 500s pads have more in common with the classic MPC pads and not the 1000?

just put them in last night worked like a charm and superez to do!

to reattach the carbon piece you don't even really NEED to solder it, you can just open up yer machine, pull the pads up and use scotch tape to hold down the carbon piece. I did this and it works fine. I actually ripped a pad off and scotch taped that back in too... pretty janky, but if you want it done real quick- it works. then play samples on full level and adjust in mixer. even better plan would be to get some aluminum tape and use that over the black piece underneath the pad.

man what do yall do to ur pads??mine are still as new
