So, the signal coming out of the MPC500 is distorting in the mixer, when you try to give that signal enough gain on the mixer to sound as loud as your PC soundcard.
That sounds strange, seems to be more like an issue with your mixer or the mixer settings, rather than the MPC500.
Your mixer should be able to play the MPC500 signal just as loud as the PC Soundcard signal, without distorting the MPC500 signal (assuming the PC Soundcard signal is not distorting at that level as well), just by adjusting the gain levels.
Are you sure that the channels on the mixer are set the same? Have you got the EQ flat on both channels on the mixer? Have you got a pad turned on for one of the channels on the mixer?
Do you have a prefader level function on your mixer, so that you can set the gain for each channel while watching the level on the meters to ensure each channel isn't peaking into the red, and to see if each channel is getting a similar signal level?
