sampled drums sound bad on mine

so i turn on sampletank on my laptop..load up a drum kit and use my midi keyboard to record all the sounds into my mpc... but they sound worse recorded on the mpc.. am i doing somethin wrong? help would be appreciated.. thanks

Why not just turn the samples on your PC into .wav files and LOAD them into your MPC? Also, be a bit more specific when saying your samples sound,"Worse." How do they sound worse? Let us know and we can help you out.

I use Battery for drums. Even if I sample drums from records...I will load them into Battery..and edit them to get the sound I want. Then I will record/sample these drums into the MPC...or just keep them in Battery and use Battery as a plug-in and record straight into my DAW.

My guess is that the sampletank programs are multisampled, meaning that they trigger different samples at different velocity levels. This gives a kit more realism,dynamics and playability. When you sample a hit into the mpc, you are only sampling one velocity layer, and so you lose some of the subtlety of the original kit.

Another possible reason is your audio path (assuming you are sampling through the analog inputs). Try checking your signal path, output levels, record levels etc.

with battery can i take a sample and chop it up and then assign it to the battery pads..? this would save me alott of time cuz it takes me forever to edit on the mpc

I went and bought battery 3......so I was ALL hyped up about importing my pgm's into battery ...so I import a mpc pgm into battery AND BATTERY CRASHES..... I try with the XL shit worked perfect.........but with the 2500 beats its a no go ......NI needs to get their shit stright.....jahrome if u can try and load a pgm from your mpc 2500 into battery 3 and see if it crashes..aswell try and load up any other pgms from another mpc like a 2000 or 3000 what ever u have .....

please let me know your results that would be awsome bro ...

Savilion, I am using Battery 2 now and was meaning to pick up 3.....but this thread is the perfect reason for me to get it right away. I am headed out the door to GC to pick up a copy. Get back with you fellaz in a minute...

Confirmed crash. I imported old Akai MPC programs into Battery 3 (version 3.0.1.005) and it works great. However, when ever I tried importing Akai MPC 2500 programs, it crashes everytime. I used bot my own programs and also the demo programs that come with the 2500.

I sent the bug report to NI w/ MPC 2500 program.
