MPC on MIDI Fullest Potential

This topic is for the MIDI aspect of the 1000.
Seems we forget that it has full capabilities and can do everything the MPD 16 & 24 can do.

I got the MPC instead because like a synth w/ MIDI capabilities, I have that dual laptop/bang out aspect. (+ nothing's quite like chopping up on the MPC).
But now I'm trying to get up and running on that computadora.
I have a personal aversion to Fruity Loops... maybe a beef with its name or its overused-ness. Is it that good that I should cave?
I am looking for a program, something like the MPC pad-187 software that a fellow boardmember posted, but compatible with a PC.
I want to be able to assign samples to pads for the MPC to trigger onto the computer. I want something that's easy to get up and running and get crankin quick, and hopefully quite visual and not complicated. I don't like beat 'mapping' or 'painting' or anything like that. I like my 16 pads. Knowmean.

And for some reason I haven't seen a lot of discussion on that (MIDI) aspect on this board...

I already have FL and Reason. I haven't used Battery yet.
Please give addvice.

Whoa. THis thing looks aiight, except where's the MIDI? Is this even a MIDI device? Someone help me please. They don't have very good documentation.

I wanna be able to hear these in real time....

oh i may have missunderstood your question.

you want an mpc program editor ? or

want your mpc to trigger sounds in your pc ?

then this is a different story. there is not much to do.

you basically have to assign your samples to the corresponding midi note of the mpc pads. let say A1 is equal to note 36 (it is just an example).
so get a playback sampler vst, suck like halion or whatever (get a look at the crazy free vst post by mpc4k here on this forum).
battery can do the same stuff.
assign the sample to a midi note ( here 36) assign the vst to a midi channel to listen about comming events. and there you go, when you hit the pad , you trigger the sample.

there is a video somewhere, where a guy called sparq, presents how to wired your lovely mpc1k to reason, and make this one act like a simple midi device.

everything is deeply and better explained than me.

i have a radium 49 and an mpc

i use both with reason. i tricked reason into thinkinng my mpc was a 2nd radium 49. the radium is midied through the mpc (and hooked up through usb)

this way, the mpc can record everything the radium does. it acts as a net between the radium and reason. great setup.

Fam, any specific links you could point me to? I tried searching for both and found cluttered results.

It is on YouTube and on myspace but hard to find since myspace uses such lame software. Search these forums the links are somewhere, probably in production tricks section

Reason is a great MPC sound module.

What version of Reason do you have?

With 3.0 you can map your MPC to multiple instruments in Reason and trigger any of those sounds by hitting your pads. In prior versions of Reason you could only use one insrument at a time.

Typically I build Reason kits that include multiple instruments so you could trigger beats with the Redrum, have bass and synth sounds with a Subtractor and Malstrom, and play samples with your NN-XT. You can also use the Matrix sequencer concurrently. Alternatively you could just build multiple kits in an NN-XT and with a click of the mouse you have an unlimited number of sounds. The NN-XT also allows you to layer an unlimited number of sounds that can be triggered simultaneously.

I use this as my setup where Reason is rewired to Ableton for easy recording.

Possibilities are phenomenal.
