It feels like hardware that you can pick up and PLAY, not a big metal box sitting on a desk, more like a drum. Pick it up, put it on your lap, move it around, get comfortable, and bang some beats. It's also easier to take places with you, not like a 500 (which is more portable but lacks some serious features), sturdy, small, portable. To me it feels like a solid piece of hardware, a solid block of funk. I've known people who had 2ks, they sat on the desk, immobile, not something you'd move let alone put on your lap. I'm a n00b with owning an mpc but the 1k feels great.

Since them i had the usual computer stuff going on. Virtual instruments, tons of updates, tons of troubles, some fun too.
a week back i bought my first mpc since then. the MPC 1000.
i hadn´t that much fun making music since years ago, i even didn´t switch on tha mac once for making music.
it´s like coming back home after a looooong time. I don´t care bout the pads, mine are working fine allthough i bought it second hand, must have two years of age.
The 1000 rocks.
