That's pretty much it. You are not going to get identical parts in a machine that costs half (or less than half) of it's bretheren. Nobody got shafted, nobody broke any law (US, UK, Germany, wherever) Before any product release, a company runs everything past highly paid legal people, who will scrutinise every press release, every advert, every detail on the packaging, to make sure no false claims are being made and that nothing could lead to a legal challenge. Remember, Akai is now an American company and the U.S. is probably the most litigious country in the world. A huge C.Y.A. exercise (Cover Your A55) preceeds any new products release into the wild.
Personal opinions, however, can be whatever they like. If someone feels they were mislead, the burden of proof is on them to show how. I feel cheated by many things but know that there's nothing I can do about it and I have to chalk it up to experience. It's not the same as bending over and taking it up the a55 from big corporates, it's about taking responsibility for my own decisions and making sure that I make informed choices.
I seem to be repeating myself now so I'm going to quit. If anybody feels aggrieved enough to take legal action, Good luck, you will need it.
Ultimately, the best way of letting a company know how you feel is to hit them where it hurts most, and that's their bottom line. Stop buying and they'll soon listen. But MPC sales are good apparantly, so they must be doing something right. Thing is, the vast majority of satisfied users won't voice in places like this. Why should they ? They are perfectly happy.
Good luck to you all, and happy beat making
